Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (10/5/10)

Fanduel.com has live preseason real money fantasy games starting today. These things are fun, but be a smart gambler and keep the bets very small. It’s preseason and who knows what kind of lineups coaches will throw out there for evaluation.
Kobe Bryant – Says the knee is about 60% right now and just the fact that he saw some game action Monday was good news. He’s still got about three weeks to go, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Draft him as normal.
Andrew Bogut – He’s going to play at least 20 minutes tonight, so keep an eye on how he plays. What you want to pay particular attention to is how he shoots the ball with that elbow problem. If he’s having problems with that, it could be a signal that he’s just on the court for defense right now and maybe you should look for a better option at center.
Jermaine O’Neal – Will miss the next week with a hamstring problem.
Michael Beasley – He got the start at small forward yesterday and the move could be a signal of where he will be spending most of his time this season. Good news for Beasley owners and good news for Kevin Love owners.
Wesley Johnson – He was in the starting lineup Monday at shooting guard and it looks like he’s over the hamstring problem that recently slowed him. Monitor if he continues to get time at SG.
Mario Chalmers/Carlos Arroyo – Chalmers is hurt, so Arroyo will get the start at PG on Tuesday. Joel Anthony will get the start at center.
Yao Ming – Houston is going to play him 12 minutes tonight in two six minute stretches. It’s the first chance to get a look at how well he’s moving after the foot injury. I’m not liking Ming this season though and probably won’t be drafting him in any of my leagues.
Reggie Williams – He could be a real sleeper for Golden State. Reports are that he’s going to get plenty of minutes off the bench and could see time at PG, SG and SF. Make sure he’s on your draft cheat sheet.
Evan Turner – The Sixers are actually thinking about using Evans mostly as a backup point guard right now. I don’t think that will last too long, but we’ll see. It also means that Andre Iguodala will see most of the time at SG, with a spot opening up for Thaddeus Young at SF.
Samuel Dalembert – He’s out tonight with an adductor muscle injury. It doesn’t seem to be anything serious, so keep him steady on your draft sheets.
Nicolas Batum – He’s got the inside track on the starting SF spot for Portland and makes a nice sleeper.
