Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (10/10/10)

Alabama’s undefeated run finally comes to an end with a loss to South Carolina.  It was a hell of a fun ride while it lasted.   Time to start a new streak next week!  Roll Tide!

Drafts are quickly approaching and I’m going to make another run through my draft rankings on Monday and Tuesday and hope to have the final rankings fine tuned and completed by Wednesday.

A couple of quick notes before the NFL kicks off today:

Al Harrington – Suffered a plantar fascia tear in his left foot and will miss two weeks.   These injuries are very tricky and can reappear at any time.  When they do flare up, you can be looking at being without your fantasy player for weeks, not days.  Harrington has suddenly become a very risky pick.

Troy Murphy – He’s in danger of missing the opener with a back problem.  The injury appears to be somewhat significant and also something that could reappear at anytime during the season, which increases the risk surrounding Murphy.  Derrick Favors could find himself in the starting lineup and will be moving up draft boards.

Ersan Ilyasova – He had a nice game Saturday and could push his way into decent minutes this season as a source of frontcourt offense for the Bucks.  Put him on you sleeper list.

Marco Belinelli/Marcus Thornton – Belinelli is pulling ahead in the race for the starting SG spot in New Orleans.  His defense is much better than Thornton’s and he’s just as good of a shooter as Thornton.  Get him on you sleeper list.

Trevor Ariza – He was my player to watch yesterday and he had a pretty good game with 17 points in 24 minutes.  I didn’t get to see the game, so I’m not exactly sure how he was used, but this is a great start for him.  He could be a productive value play.
