Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (11/30/11)

Been reading some crazy stuff today.  Reporters and bloggers are just making up outrageous rumors because they haven’t had anything to write about for 5 months.   And what’s with all the 2012 free agency talk?  We haven’t even had free agency 2011 yet.   Only ten more days of wacky trade and free agent rumors until there is any real news.

Top 5 teams with the best Vegas odds of winning the championship:  Miami (9/4), Lakers (5/1), Bulls (7/1), Thunder (15/2) and the Mavericks (17/2).  My longshot pick:  Orlando at 22/1.   The Clippers also make a great bet at 50/1 if they land a big free agent like Dwight Howard.  A C-Note on the Clippers at 50/1 with Howard, yeah I’d do that bet.

The NBA is going to have 5 games on Christmas day.  I’ll probably be visiting relatives.  Why do they do this to me?

Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (11/29/11)

I’ve been working on rankings this week, but not making much progress.  It’s really difficult to get a handle on rankings when free agency hasn’t taken place, players are still working out details to get out of their overseas contracts and the newly implemented ‘amnesty’ procedure hasn’t yet occurred.   And this doesn’t even begin to figure in the normal position battles, which is made even more difficult by the fact that the ‘preseason’ is a mere two games long.   Prepared owners are at a huge advantage this season when it comes to fantasy drafts.

NBA Player Fantasy News

Brandon Roy (POR) – It looks like Portland is going to use their amnesty free pass to unload Brandon Roy.   I really can’t see drafting Roy on any fantasy teams this season.  He has chronic knee problems and couldn’t handle big minutes on a regular schedule so it’s going to be nearly impossible for his knees to withstand the compressed 66 game season with nearly 4 games per week and a few back to back to backs.  He’s just going to be too undependable, let someone else deal with that headache.   Wesley Matthews has a healthy ankle now and should get a boost in fantasy value with Roy gone.

We have Fantasy Basketball for Christmas!

Looks like things are getting worked out and we are on our way to a fantasy season starting on Christmas day.   The season will be a 66 game schedule with free agency and training camps opening on December 9th.

Since there will be players on the move due to the new amnesty clause and free agency, as well as several players who may or may not return from overseas, getting fantasy rankings up is going to be tough.  I’m going to try and get some rough rankings up by this weekend, but I’m sure those will have to be refined as free agency progresses in December.

I have already started posting some fantasy relevant stuff in the Twitter feed on the homepage, so keep an eye on that.  In the meantime, I’ll be posting daily fantasy news on the homepage as it comes across.

Fantasy Basketball Game on!

NBA Fantasy Basketball Opening Day 2011 (11/2/11)

Well, I should be writing up reviews of the first NBA games today, but sadly the players and owners are the only ones playing games.  Just wanted to let you guys know that I’m still around and still have plans on doing the site this season, but there just isn’t much going on to write about lately.  At a minimum it looks like at least sometime in December before we have any games.

I have started collecting some good research and articles from around the web and will start posting good fantasy stuff in the twitter feed @FantasyNBADaily.  I have added the twitter feed to the right side of the homepage or you can subscribe to it directly.

Hang in there guys, this thing will get worked out and our fantasy lives will continue.
