Early NBA Free Agent Signings and Trades

Free Agency officially tipped off on July 1 and we’ve already got a few signings and trades.  New contracts can’t officially be signed until July 11th, but most verbal agreements usually end up being upheld.  I expect that there will be a slow trickle of news over the next month or so and I’ll be collecting the best fantasy stuff every couple of days.

Atlanta agrees to trade Joe Johnson to New Jersey in exchange for Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro, Anthony Morrow, Jordan Williams, Deshawn Stevenson and a future first round pick.  (Source:  Marc Stein and Chris Broussard, ESPN)

Kevin Garnett has agreed to a three year $34 million deal to stay with the Celtics. (Source: ESPN)

Gerald Wallace signs with the Nets for four years and $40 million. (Source:  ESPN)

The Houston Rockets will sign Omer Asik to a three year $25 million contract as of July 11th.  The Bulls will have three days to match the offer if they want to keep Asik.  (Source:  Chicago Tribune)

Blake Griffin will agree to a 5 year, $95 million extension to stay with the Clippers.  (Source:  LA Times)

Andre Miller agreed to re-sign with the Nuggets for three years.  (Source:  ESPN)

Lavoy Allen will sign with the Sixers for two years, $6 million.  (Source:  Yahoo)

George Hill will sign with the Pacers for five years, terms unreported.  (Source:  Yahoo)
