Fantasy Basketball Daily News (10/17/09)

The Fantasy Basketball Daily Readers League is set up on Yahoo.  League Id is 276383, password fbd.  I’m trying to get a serious group of players so that we might be able to start a keeper league from this year’s group of owners.  This year the league will be a one year league.  Big game for the Crimson Tide tonight vs. #22 South Carolina in Tuscaloosa, 7:45 ESPN.  Rollllll  Tide!!!

In the ‘Zzone speculates that Chris Douglas-Roberts could be the opening night starter at Small Forward.  Both Jarvis Hayes and Bobby Simmons are nursing injuries, so CDR has a real opportunity.

GiveMeTheRock.com with results and analysis of round 5 of the GMTR Fantasy Draft.

TheTwoManGame.com examines the Center battle in Dallas between Drew Gooden and Erick Dampier.

Dime Magazine with their Top 10 Fantasy Centers.

Joel Anthony of the Miami Heat is starting to get a little hype around the blogosphere.  Anthony will backup Jermaine O’Neal this year and you know how much of an injury risk O’Neal is.  I probably wouldn’t draft him, but keep an eye on his development.

FanHouse.com previews Josh Smith and previews Caron Butler.

FourPointPlay.com with four ballhogs who will kill your fantasy percentages.

BuserSports.com with Part II of their series H2H Guide (Drafting Strategies).  Part I H2H Guide if you missed it earlier.

Kevin Love suffered a fractured left hand (nonshooting hand) Friday night and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.  I have been debating whether or not to pick up Ryan Gomes in a league and this pretty much made the decision for me.  Gomes will definitely be playing big minutes until Love returns.  Ryan Hollins and Oleksiy Pecherov are the backups to Love but both are very inexperienced.

Derrick Rose remains out for Chicago and I’m starting to get a little nervous about the ankle injury.  He has already been out for two weeks and The Chicago Tribune reports that he ‘hopes’ to be ready by the opener in two weeks.  Tweaked ankles don’t usually take a month to heal in a young player.

LeBron James returned from the flu last night at put up 22 points in 19 minutes.  I’m sure the opposing players were really appreciative that James brought his flu germs to the court just a day after being tested for H1N1.

IndyStar.com reports that Brandon Rush and Roy Hibbert have the inside track on the starting shooting guard and center spots in Indiana.

Inside the Warriors article expresses some concern about Stephen Curry’s shot.  I wouldn’t be too concerned yet.  I haven’t drafted Curry in any league and I think he might be a bit overhyped at this point.  He also isn’t going to get many minutes behind Ellis, Morrow, Watson, Azubuike, Jackson and Maggette.  Speaking of Corey Maggette, MercuryNews.com reports that he may be in line for at least the 31.1 minutes a game he got last season, maybe more.

College Basketball kicked off last night with Midnight Madness.

JazzBots.com with a good article on Ronnie Brewer.  He is always one of my favorite fantasy players that can be picked up in the late rounds of most drafts.
