Fantasy Basketball Daily News (1/05/10)

The Gilbert Arenas soap opera just keeps dragging on and on with no end in sight.  How hard is to do an investigation and reach a finding here?  Either there’s an incident with witnesses, or there isn’t.   Dragging the whole mess out is just hurting the NBA overall.   Al Sharpton is getting involved and you know things aren’t good when Sharpton is running his mouth.  Sharpton even decided to play the race card saying that if it was a white player, this would have been a bigger deal.  It isn’t a ‘white ‘or ‘black’ thing, it’s an ‘idiot with a gun who has obviously lost touch with reality’ thing.  But I’m sure it’ll blow over.  You still see Delonte West playing don’t you?

Fantasy Basketball Player News and Notes:

  • Ronnie Turiaf will get a start for Golden State pushing Andris Biedrins to the bench.  Biedrins is obviously still recovering so hold on to him for a couple of weeks to see how things progress.
  • Anthony Randolph is scheduled to start for the Warriors Tuesday, but don’t bet on it.
  • Lamar Odom is suffering from the flu. Even though Pau Gasol is out, Odom makes a risky daily cash game play.
  • Jermaine O’Neal missed Monday with a hip problem.  Joel Anthony got the start.
  • Pau Gasol’s hamstring injury is only a mild to moderate strain.  He’s day to day, but will probably sit a few games just out of caution.
  • Ron Artest should play Tuesday.
  • Martell Webster is making the most of his starting opportunity and should be picked up if your fantasy team needs 3’s.
  • Devin Brown is another waiver wire option if your team needs 3’s.  He’s got a starting job and he went 5-8 from three last night.
  • The Bulls are still spreading the minutes across their four big men, which is hurting everyone’s fantasy value.  Last night’s minutes: Noah  31, T. Thomas 21, Taj Gibson 27 and Brad Miller 16
  • Jamaal Magliore got 21 minutes last night due to Jermaine O’Neal’s injury.  No fantasy relevance, just interesting to see that he’s still around.  Joel Anthony will likely have first shot at the center position if anything serious happens to O’Neal.
  • Chase Budinger could return Tuesday for Houston.
  • Jarvis Hayes could return for New Jersey Tuesday.  Just what the Nets need, another useless bench player who is no part of the future taking minutes away from young guys who are.
  • Rajon Rondo should return Wednesday.
  • Erick Dampier expects to play Tuesday.
  • Brendan Haywood is questionable Tuesday with the flu.
  • Chris Andersen is out Tuesday.
  • Jamario Moon is going to miss 2-3 weeks with an abdominal strain.
  • Deron Williams injured his wrist Monday and could be questionable for Wednesday.
