Fantasy Basketball Daily News (1/13/10)

Kevin Martin has been cleared to practice and could play as early as Friday.  Beno Udrih’s value could take a big hit, so be on the lookout for another point guard for your roster.  It will also be interesting to see how Martin affects Tyreke Evans.  Evans wasn’t producing as well with the responsibility of running the point earlier in the season, but he also didn’ t have the game experience that he has now.  I don’t expect too much falloff in Evans’ stats, and he might be helped as Martin draws alot more defensive attention than Udrih. 11 games on the fantasy schedule tonight.

Fantasy Basketball Player News and Notes:

  • Blake Griffin will have more surgery on his left knee and is done for the season.  The estimated recovery time – 4 to 6 months.  Ouch.
  • Houston called up Joey Dorsey from the D-League.
  • Tony Parker is dealing with plantar fasciitis, which explains his big decline in production from last season.  He says he’s just a step slower.
  • Mike Miller missed Monday after aggravating his calf injury.  Nick Young got the start.
  • Career scoring night from Stephen Jackson with 43 points against the Houston Rockets.   Seems like every team I played last night had him going.
  • David Lee’s grandfather has died, so check Lee’s gametime status for Wednesday.
  • Kevin Durant drives a mini van.  We got to get you a new ride KD.
  • Donte Greene returned to the starting lineup for Sacramento after missing two games with a sprained right ankle.  He played 21 minutes.
  • Vince Carter missed Tuesday with a left shoulder injury.   J.J. Redick got the start but only managed 8 points in 33 minutes.
  • Chris Kaman missed Tuesday with a back injury.  No word on how long he’s going to be out.  DeAndre Jordan got the start and had a career high with 23 points.  It also helped that Marcus Camby was also out for the second half.
  • Marcus Camby missed the second half with a stomach virus.
  • Mike Conley returned for Memphis after missing a game with a back injury.   He went 31 minutes.
  • Along with all his hand problems, Kobe Bryant missed the fourth quarter of the Spurs game with back spasms.  It probably won’t cause him to miss any time, but it should force the Lakers to realize that they should start resting him more as the playoffs approach.  Watch his minutes as the season progresses, especially in daily cash games.
  • Ron Artest sprained his right index finger against the Spurs.
  • Pau Gasol could return Friday against the Clippers.  His return will hurt the value of Lamar Odom, who has done a great job filling in for Gasol.
  • Ben Gordon missed Tuesday with a groin problem.
  • Dwyane Wade could miss Wednesday with a sprained right wrist.  He missed practice Tuesday, so check his gametime status.  Daequan Cook could get the start if Wade can’t go.  If the Heat decide to go small to match up with the Warriors, Miami could go with Carlos Arroyo or Mario Chalmers starting for Wade.
  • Andris Biedrins may get the start Wednesday with Anthony Randolph out and Ronny Turiaf hurting.  Biedrins says his recent subpar play is due to conditioning and not from his abdominal injury.
  • Jameer Nelson appears to be having problems with his surgically repaired left knee which is hurting his production.
  • Charlie Bell will likely get the start in place of the injured Michael Redd.
  • Not sure if Jason Thompson is hurt or just slumping.  He’s only played 19 and 21 minutes in his last two games.
  • Taj Gibson is suffering from plantar fasciitis .  No word if he will miss any time, but Tyrus Thomas is just waiting for any opportunity to get his starting job back.
  • Josh Howard and Erick Dampier are expected to play Wednesday against the Lakers.
  • Rudy Fernandez could return tonight for Portland in their game against Milwaukee.
