Fantasy Basketball Daily News (9/19/10)
Sep 19, 2010 Blog
Hope you guys are having a good weekend. I figured I drop a few notes before football kicks off. Only two weeks until camps get started and I can’t wait. Also, you guys can find all the latest fantasy articles from around the web in the Twitter Feed on the right side of the homepage. I have also setup the Fantasy Basketball Daily Facebook Page where you can comment on any of the articles you see here at FBD and talk with other fantasy basketball fans.
Monta Ellis – I’m liking Ellis less and less as the season approaches and he’s turning in to one of those fantasy players who could be a real trap. I saw a few articles this week on how Monta said he was maturing and doing things like making up with Stephen Curry. Now this morning I see a piece mentioning that he could be on the trading block. Something’s fishy here. Seems like someone has told Monta that he better get his act together or he’s gone. Golden St. is in the midst of change and Nelson and Nellieball appear to be on their way out. Someone said that signing Louis Amundson could be the first clue that the Warriors might be moving towards changing their team philosophy from pure offense to something less offensive. If Monta does get traded, I’m not sure another coach is going to put up with his horribly inefficient game and they definitely won’t let him jack up as many shots as Nelson does. Be careful here guys, this is a situation that just screams danger.
Samuel Dalembert – Sammy could be moving up draft boards if the rumor is true that he will be more involved in the offense in Sacramento than he was in Philly. We’ll see what his role is once camp gets here.
fBasketBallBlog.com – You guys should definitely check out fBasketballBlog.com. It’s run by my friend Jason and you may have seen some of his stuff lately at Dime Magazine. He knows his fantasy basketball and is a good writer, someone you definitely want to add to your fantasy basketball favorites list.
Andre Iguodala – Iguodala should have much better stats this season since it appears that Doug Collins actually understands what Andre’s strenghts are. He’s taking off the Princeton shackles this year and Iguodala should benefit greatly by using his athleticism and taking it to the basket more.
Mo Williams – If you like to build your fantasy team around threes, Mo is someone that you should bump up a few spots on your PG rankings. He’s going to be a big part of the offense this season.
Darren Collison – I’m seeing Collison get a lot of fantasy love lately, but I think you have to temper your expectations. Some guys are pumping him up to second or third round status. He filled in admirably for Chris Paul, but he’s still inexperienced and Indiana has absolutely no help around him. Can you really afford to waste a second round pick on that big of a gamble?
Andrew Bogut – He’s not healing well and you have to wonder when he’s going to make it back to the court and how effective he’s going to be shooting the basketball with that serious elbow injury. It just seems like one of those situations that could take longer to heal than some people expect. He may make it back on the court for defense, but is he really healthy enough to reach his full offensive potential?
Mehmet Okur – He’s not healing well either and it’s looking like January before he returns. The Jazz brought in Francisco Elson to backup Al Jefferson. He’s looking like waiver wire material.
D.J. Augustin – When I first saw that Raymond Felton got traded to New York, I didn’t think there was any way Augustin was going to actually get to run the Bobcats, but it’s looking like he’s their starting PG. He’s still a low end PG, but might be worth a late round gamble.
Yao Ming – I see where they are going to limit him to only 24-25 minutes a night, as well as limit him in back to backs. If true, this is horrible news for fantasy owners. It also explains why the Rockets offered a contract to Erick Dampier.
Andray Blatche – Blatche’s broken foot seems to be healing well and he should be 100% for the season. He’s still a headcase, but could be a big part of the Wizards this year.
Caron Butler – It looks like Butler is going to slide down to SG until Roddy Beaubois returns from his injury. Probably not a huge change of value for Butler, but it might help Shawn Marion as he slides down to SF full time.
Carmelo Anthony – I’m starting to sour on Melo this year in fantasy leagues. If he doesn’t get his trade do you think he will give full effort this season? It’s a gamble. There is also the chance that Denver completely blows up this team sometime this season if the opportunity presents itself.
Phillipines – I was checking out my web stats this morning and found the Philllipines to be the third largest vistor to FBD. Interesting.
Wesley Matthews – He’s now officially stuck behind Brandon Roy. That sure was a lot of money to spend on a guy to ride the pine. And to further muddy things up, Rudy Fernandez may stay in Portland too. Maybe Matthews can get some minutes at SF behind Batum.
Eric Gordon – He looked great at FIBA and could be a breakout player this year. Keep an eye on him.
Ron Artest – How can you not like Ron Artest? The guy lives like a rock star. I saw where he was auctioning off his championship ring for charity. Awesome.
Steve Nash – I hate to see Nash go out like this on a pathetic Suns team. The guy deserved a ring for his great career.
Enjoy today’s NFL games.
