Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (10/21/10)
Oct 21, 2010 Blog
Less than a week until the season gets started! Celtics-Heat, Tuesday night. Just about everyone has probably completed most of their drafts by now, so I’ll be moving more toward covering the daily player news, injuries, matchups and lineups starting on Monday. I’ll also be hitting the waiver wire news hard on a daily basis. I’ll be posting gametime stuff in the FantasyNBADaily Twitter feed on the right side of the homepage, so check it often for the latest injury and lineup news.
Vince Carter – He actually looks good this preseason. It might be time to move him up the rankings a little. He still has J.J. Redick to contend with, but Carter really looks focused.
Orlando Magic – 21 preseason wins in a row.
Lawrence Frank – How nice is it for the Celtics have a high quality assistant coach like Frank? Talk about bench depth. I bet he loved taking over the head coach’s spot in Rivers’ absence and putting a beating on the Nets last night after they made him the scapegoat last season.
Tyreke Evans – He’s dealing with plantar fasciitis, which is a really painful and lingering injury. Keep an eye on him since that type of injury could flare up at any time. It shouldn’t change his draft status.
DeJuan Blair – He gets the starting center spot on opening night.
Lou Williams – He’s the first guard off the bench and could get big minutes if Evan Turner struggles.
Jose Calderon – He continues to be a horrible defender, which will probably force the Raptors to limit his minutes. Derrick Rose just completely abused him last night, nearly putting up a triple double. Jarrett Jack should benefit.
Reggie Evans – Appears to have won the starting PF spot for the Raptors. He’s probably still not draftable unless you are desperate for rebounds.
Tyrus Thomas – He’s probably coming off the bench to start the year, but should still get big minutes. I guess that means Boris Diaw will start. Thomas could be a good breakout candidate this season.
Corey Maggette – He’s probably going to miss opening night. Carlos Delfino should draw the start.
Tyson Chandler – Cut his hand and needed two stitches. He’s probably going to miss about a week. Brendan Haywood will absorb the extra minutes.
Jermaine O’Neal – Shaq could pick up some extra minutes to start the season since J. O’Neal is nursing a couple of injuries.
D.J. Augustin – Shawn Livingston is really having problems with his knee, which should leave Augustin playing big minutes at PG. Time to slide him up the rankings a bit.
Troy Murphy – It’s possible that he could return during the first week of the season. How effective he will be is another question.
Kobe Bryant – His minutes will be limited to start the season. Shannon Brown could get some extra run.
