Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (10/28/10)
Oct 28, 2010 Blog
Marc Gasol (MEM) – Missed Wednesday with a sprained ankle. Not sure how many games he’s going to miss, but get him to the bench.
Zach Randolph (MEM) – Took a hard fall Wednesday and had to leave the game. He wasn’t able to return, but it’s probably not a serious injury and he should be fine.
J.J. Hickson/Antawn Jamison (CLE) – Hickson got the start and the minutes and had a great game. Jamison only got 21 minutes off the bench and didn’t do much with it. Check your wire just to make sure nobody forgot about Hickson. Hang on to Jamison for awhile to see if he gets it turned around.
Ramon Sessions/Mo Williams (CLE) – Williams is still out with a groin problem and Sessions got the start. Don’t rush out and try to acquire Sessions, his role will probably decrease once Mo gets healthy. Same for Daniel Gibson, who also had a good game.
Glen Davis (BOS) – He got 33 more minutes Wednesday in the second game of a back to back. Put him on your watchlist, he looks much improved this year.
Austin Daye (DET) – Disappointing debut for the sleeper. 21 minutes, 4pts/3reb. Hang on to him for a couple weeks before doing anything crazy. Charlie Villanueva got 23 minutes and 14 points.
Derrick Favors (NJ) – Good first game, 8pts/10reb in 20 minutes.
James Jones (MIA) – If you need threes, give Jones a look. He seems to be the designated three point shooter for the Heat, 6 of 9 Wednesday.
Evan Turner (PHI) – Good game from the fantasy rookie, 31 minutes, 16pts/7reb/4ast. I think Turner cracks the starting five by December.
LeBron James (MIA) – Why do I get the feeling that LeBron’s personality is going to end up being like Jordan’s? He seems to getting more and more sour by the day.
Timofey Mozgov (NYK) – 7 minutes, 4 fouls. He won’t be in the rotation long doing that.
Landry Fields/Wilson Chandler (NYK) – I have no idea why D’Antoni would choose to start Fields ahead of Chandler, other than maybe to encourage the rookie and send a message to the veteran. Fields got 30 minutes and put up 11pts/4reb. Chandler got 29 minutes putting up 22pt/8reb. Watch the wire so see if anyone drops Chandler and then grab him.
John Salmons (MIL) – He missed most of camp and he’s still rusty. It really showed last night, 32 minutes, 5pts/2reb/0ast Give him a couple of weeks before making any decision on his play.
Andrew Bogut (MIL) – Played 36 minutes putting up 15pts/15rebs. I think he’s going to be fine. Congrats if you capitalized on his fall in the draft rankings because of the elbow injury.
Marco Belinelli (NOR) – It doesn’t look like Marcus Thornton is going to get that starting job back any time soon. Belinelli got 35 minutes of action putting up 18pts/6reb/2ast. Check you wire to make sure Belinelli didn’t slip through your draft.
Jason Smith (NOR) – Smith got a surprising 30 minutes of action Wednesday. Put him on your watchlist.
Kevin Love (MIN) – Is there anymore aggravating player to own? The guy is a fantasy monster and could only manage 24 minutes Wednesday. Hopefully, this won’t be the norm.
Russell Westbrook (OKC) – He’s solidifying himself as a depedable top 10 fantasy point guard. He will only get better.
D.J. Augustin (CHA) – Not a great game from D.J. last night. He’s going to have to pick it up or he could get kicked to the waiver wire. Be patient.
David Lee (GSW) – He looks like a carbon copy of the New York version. He’s going to have a good year.
Wesley Matthews (POR) – He probably disappoint a lot of fantasy owners who snatched him off the wire after Tuesday’s performance. Wednesday: 17 minutes, 4pts/1reb/0ast. Give him at least 7 games before dumping him.
