Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (10/30/10)

It finally feels like football weather.   The Crimson Tide is off before travelling to LSU for a tough one next week.   Some quick fantasy basketball notes before college football kicks off:

Landry Fields (NYK) – Could be the real deal.   I picked him up in the GiveMeTheRock.com Keeper league and cut Tayshaun Prince.   He’s got 14 rebounds in 2 games from the SG spot, which fits really well with my big man strategy in that league.

Brook Lopez/Devin Harris (NJN) – They are clearly the two primary offensive options for the Nets and they will carry a majority of the load all year.  Outlaw and Morrow have been role players so far.  Lopez and Harris should be automatic starts.

Josh Smith (ATL) – Another poor shooting night, 4-11.  He needs to scrap that jumper.  He did have 6 blocks last night.

Al Horford (ATL) – Horford bounced back with a 20 point, 12 rebound game.  He’ll be fine, especially if he gets that contract hammered out.  Zaza Pachulia only got 14 minutes in this one, which about what you should expect this season.

Andres Nocioni (PHI) – He got 30 minutes of action putting up 15pts/5reb.  If he’s healthy and getting minutes, he could be a waiver wire pickup.   Doug Collins played Nocioni over Thaddeus Young (17 minutes).

Linas Kleiza (TOR) – One of my favorite sleepers this season.  He put up a 19pt/5reb/3ast line.  Pick him up if he’s still on the wire.

Jarrett Jack/Jose Calderon (TOR) – As expected, this has turned into a fantasy timeshare headache.  Neither are really fantasy worthy.

Reggie Evans (TOR) – 14 more rebounds on Friday.  He should continue to start, so grab him if you need cheap rebounds.

Darren Collison/T.J. Ford (IND) – This is turning into a scary fantasy timeshare situation and certainly not what owners were hoping for when using a high draft pick on Collison.  You had to realize that being a backup for a few weeks in New Orleans was way different than trying to run a poor Indiana team for an entire season.  It might be a good idea to see what you can get for Collison before his value really tanks.

Stephen Jackson (CHA) – Another poor game, the knee may be bothering him more than he is letting on.  Gerald Wallace had a good one and might benefit if the Captain is hurting.

Paul Pierce (BOS) – 25pts/14reb/5ast Friday.  I think his back is fine.

Rajon Rondo (BOS) – 10pts/10reb/24ast.  Triple double and another huge assist night.  The guy is top 5 PG.

Glen Davis (BOS) – I think it’s about time to seriously consider picking Davis up, 16pt/6reb Friday.

Timofey Mozgov (NYK) – Looks like a bust.  Cut him if you find a more attractive option at center.

Shelden Williams (DEN) – Another great source of cheap fantasy rebounds.  13 more on Friday.

Vince Carter (ORL) – Took a hard fall and left the game with back spasms.  He should be fine, but check his next gametime status.

James Jones (MIA) – Three more 3 pointers Friday, grab him if you need help in that category.

Marc Gasol (MEM) – A surprise start Friday and should be fine to use going forward.  15 rebounds last night.
