Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (10/31/10)
Oct 31, 2010 Blog
John Wall (WAS) – Much better performance Saturday, even though it was against the defenseless Mike Bibby. He’s going to be a Top 5 fantasy PG by the time the second half of the season rolls around.
Al Thornton (WAS) – He’s trying to make his case to stick around after Gilbert Arenas returns, but I worry that the Wizards will go with that three guard set, which really limits Thornton. Pay attention to how Thornton is used once Arenas comes back.
Zaza Pachulia (ATL) – Reduced to 17 minutes again last night. His opening night explosion was nothing more than an illusion. Ignore him for now.
Francisco Garcia (SAC) – He was a hot pickup for a day, but fizzled on Saturday. Omri Casspi got the SF minutes, but this situation could be a timeshare all season. Donte Greene played less than a minute.
Antawn Jamison (CLE) – I never thought I’d say this, but Jamison could be waiver wire material in the next couple of weeks. Only 17 minutes of action Saturday, 2 points, one rebound. Be patient and if someone in your league drops him, he might be worth a gamble. What you are gambling on is a trade out of Cleveland.
Danilo Gallinari (NYK) – He’s in a huge shooting slump and maybe the wrist is hurt more than he is telling. Bench him for now. He better pick it up or Wilson Chandler will take the SF spot.
Landry Fields (NYK) – Another solid game, 11 points and 8 big rebounds from the SG spot. Check your wire to see if he’s still out there.
Rodney Stuckey (DET) – His assists have been a huge early season surprise and he could be a real draft day steal. Not sure what he did in the offseason, but it worked.
Charlie Villanueva (DET) – The Autin Daye buzz is fading and Villanueva should own the PF spot for Detroit in the next couple weeks.
Derrick Rose (CHI) – Three 3’s, two steals and two blocks in the same game? Derrick Rose?
Elton Brand (PHI) – Another early season surprise with a big line last night: 12pts/10reb/4stl/4blk.
Roy Hibbert (IND) – Solid game last night and he’s making a case to be one of the elite fantasy centers this season.
Mike Conley (MEM) – He’s improving and had another nice line Saturday: 14pts/7reb/11ast and a whopping 7 steals.
Shelden Williams (DEN) – If you haven’t already grabbed this guy, you better do it before someone else does. 6pts/8reb/3stl/2blk.
D.J. Augustin (CHA) – Showing signs of life, 26 points Saturday.
Emeka Okafor (NOR) – He’s looking like a draft day bust. Only 19 minutes on Saturday.
Marcus Thornton (NOR) – He gave patient fantasy owners a ray of hope last night with 30 minutes of action and 17 points, although it did take 14 shots.
