Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (10/7/10)
Oct 7, 2010 Blog
Jonas Jerebko – He suffered a torn achilles Tuesday. I’ve seen reports of him missing 2-3 months, with other reports having him done for the season. Either way, it isn’t good. Charlie Villanueva gets a boost in fantasy value.
Paul Millsap/Andrei Kirilenko – Supposedly, the two are competing for the power forward spot in Utah. I doubt that it will come down to this. Millsap should end up at PF, with Kirilenko at SF.
Brendan Haywood/Tyson Chandler – Haywood appears to be the starter with Chandler coming off the bench. It really doesn’t matter, both guys will get good minutes.
Gilbert Arenas – It sounds like Arenas has lost his passion for basketball. The guy likes to have fun, but the league just doesn’t share his sense of humor. I’m sure he’s going to come down with ‘knee soreness’ soon and coast for the next couple of years. Draft him at your own risk.
Andrew Bogut – He doesn’t seem to be healing up as fast as the Bucks had hoped. He’s out again Friday due to pain in his hand.
Linas Kleiza – In yesterday’s notes, I mentioned that fantasy owners should keep an eye on Kleiza against the Suns and he did not disappoint. 20 points with excellent percentages, 4 of 4 from three. He looks to be the starter at SF for the Raptors and makes a great sleeper pick.
Jarrett Jack/Jose Calderon – If Wednesday’s game was any indication of how these two guys are going to be used in a timeshare, then both are probably going to be waiver wire material.
Josh McRoberts – He started at PF for the Pacers Wednesday and had a great game. He could land the starting PF job and makes a nicer sleeper, especially in keeper leagues.
Evan Turner – He looked bad in summer league and has looked even worse in preseason. I hope he isn’t going to be a bust. The only positive is that if you want him in a keeper league, he should be fairly cheap in drafts.
Josh Childress – It doesn’t looked like he’s missed a beat after spending time overseas. He isn’t spectacular in any single catergory, but he does produce well in all of them.
