Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (11/14/10)
Nov 14, 2010 Blog
Daily Cash Games – Another disappointing day going 3-4 on Fanduel.com, but I did manage a 5-3 record on FantasySportsLive.com. The highlight of the day though was a 2nd place finish in an 88 team freeroll. Nothing better than free cash. Looks like it’s going to be another breakeven weekend unless I get hot on Sunday night. There’s a small 5 game NBA schedule tonight and your early rosters have to be set by 2:00 pm EST. Late cash game rosters are due at 6:00 pm EST.
Devin Harris (NJN) – Harris is trying to show that he belongs in the top 10 fantasy PG’s. 26pt/6reb/8ast. He’s a little inconsistent, so if you can deal him high, now might be a good time to pull the trigger.
Anthony Morrow (NJN) – Speaking of inconsistent, 37 minutes and 3 points on Saturday. Ouch.
C.J. Miles (UTA) – If you need some bench depth in a season long league with daily transactions, pick up Miles. He’s worked his way into the 25-28 minute range and has been getting about 13 field goal attempts a game. He hasn’t been hitting yet, but that will come.
Nazr Mohammed (CHA) – 22pts/20reb. I have no idea where that came from and it was against Brook Lopez of all people. Not really worth a pickup, unless you are desperate for a center.
Mike Dunleavy (IND) – Another 20 point game. He still got 36 minutes even with Brandon Rush returning from suspension, so I guess it’s time to grab him off the wire.
Antawn Jamison (CLE) – Jamison and Hickson are working themselves into a timeshare for Cleveland, which really helps neither player. Anderson Varejao was out last night so there was decent minutes for each, but this won’t be the case when Varejao returns. I wish Cleveland would find a trade partner for Jamison and just give Hickson the PF spot.
Ramon Sessions (CLE) – He got the start for injured Mo Williams, 17pts/5reb/5ast with only a single turnover.
Chris Bosh (MIA) – Making his case as the most disappointing fantasy player of 2010. Of course you knew one of the big three was going to take a stats hit, now we know who it is. Bosh was the reason for most of my daily cash game losses, as I bet on him having a little pride and trying to put up a big game against his ex-team. Didn’t happen, even with Reggie Evans out for Toronto with the flu. Udonis Haslem performed better than Bosh Saturday.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas (MIA) – Ilgauskas still has a little left in the tank and you might want to give him a flier off the waiver wire. He got the start Saturday in place of Joel Anthony.
Brandon Roy (POR) – Fantasy owners are in trouble here. I didn’t get to see the game, but the boxscore has Roy listed with only 21 minutes of action and reports are that he left with a limp. Roy is like a high flying internet stock and it might be a good idea to start trying to sell before his value falls all the way to zero.
New Orleans Hornets – One of the most balanced boxscores I’ve seen this season. All the starters were in the 28-33 minute range with seven players in mediocre double figure scoring. Not really what fantasy owners want though.
Gilbert Arenas (WAS) – It won’t be long before he’s in the starting lineup, pushing Captain Kirk to the bench. 30 points last night, 7 of 10 from three.
Shaq O’Neal (BOS) – He returned from a knee problem and put up a solid 18pt/6reb line. He’s a good streamer for the center position.
Zach Randolph (MEM) – 21pts/11reb. I could probably just insert this same line blurb after every Randolph game. Consistent production, even against tough opponents.
Mike Conley (MEM) – Your window of opportunity to sell high on Conley is closing quickly. 13pt/1reb/4ast.
Dorell Wright/Stephen Curry (GSW) – Tough shooting night as the two combined to go 5 for 28. As a result, the Warriors put up only 72 points and lost.
Brandan Wright (GSW) – I saw a lot of daily cash game players get burned by Wright last night. Only 13 minutes for Wright with David Lee out.
Drew Gooden (MIL) – No idea what was wrong with Gooden to start the season, but he’s had a better showing the last couple of games. Keep an eye on him.
Andre Iguodala (PHI) – He’s still struggling with the achilles problem. Only 19 minutes Saturday. Get him benched for a game or two.
George Hill (SAS) – He’s finally looking healthy and ready to contribute. Manu Ginobili needs a reduction in minutes, so see if Hill is still on your wire.
Darren Collison/T.J. Ford (IND) – Collison played 23 minutes Saturday, Ford 24 minutes. An ugly timeshare.
Steve Nash (PHO) – Filed for divorce a day after his child was born. How much must you hate your wife to do something like that? I like Steve Nash, and we certainly aren’t privy to all the details, but that’s a pretty douchey move.
