Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (11/29/10)

Daily Cash Games – I only played two basketball games, splitting 1-1 on Fanduel.com.  I did have some fun in a fantasy football freeroll, but didn’t win that one either.  Not much of a weekend, but I’m ready for the new week.

There are a lot of cases of the flu floating around the NBA, so be careful with your daily cash games.   The flu usually doesn’t get reported and most of the DNP’s end up being gametime surprises with no warning.  Conservative bankroll management can keep you out of trouble.

FantasyBasketballDaily.com News and Notes:

Marvin Williams (ATL) – Had his best game of the season, 17pt/12ast, but he’s still a very inconsistent option.

Joey Dorsey (TOR) – Dorsey got the start for Reggie Evans, who is out with a a broken foot.   He might be worth a pickup, but this will probably end of being a timeshare with Amir Johnson.  Johnson is the better long term pickup.

Jerryd Bayless (TOR) – Bayless is a good gamble in keeper leagues for next season.  Jose Calderon always looks shaky and the Raptors are trying to rebuild.  They could ship Calderon out anytime.

Amare Stoudemire (NYK) – A double overtime game to help pad the stats, 37pt/15reb/7ast.  54 minutes from Amare isn’t what the Knicks want to see though.

Detroit – Apparently, Detroit has decided they just don’t need a PF at all.   Villanueva, Daye and Maxiell combined to play 33 minutes in a double overtime game.  Just bench them all I guess.

San Antonio – The Spurs obviously feel the same way about their PF spot.  Splitter, Bonner and Blair combined for 26 minutes Sunday.

Manu Ginobili (SAS) – Ginobili is having a great season, but he’s logging some heavy minutes which could hurt his production come fantasy playoff time, when the Spurs might decide to start resting him for the real NBA playoffs.

George Hill (SAS) – If Ginobili sees a reduction in minutes, Hill stands to gain.  He’s improved as the season has progressed and got 31 minutes of action Sunday, 14pt/3reb/4ast.

Marcus Thornton (NOR) – Finally got some playing time Sunday, 11 points on 5 of 9 shooting.  If you find yourself with an open spot in a keeper league, grab Thornton and hope for a trade.

C.J. Miles (UTA) – Still looking good as the 6th man for the Jazz, 16pt/4reb/3ast.

Blake Griffin (LAC) – Rookie of the Year leader?  35pt/14reb/7ast Sunday.

Serge Ibaka (OKC) – Got a start Sunday for the injured Nenad Krstic and had a nice line, 16pt/8reb/3blk.  Ibaka should be starting over Krstic.

Kyle Lowery (HOU) – Lowery has finally gotten his season on track with a few good games in a row, 14pt/6reb/8ast.

Jordan Hill (HOU) – In case you didn’t notice the first few times I posted it, pick up Jordan Hill in keeper leagues.   He could take that starting spot next season if Ming doesn’t return.

Brandon Roy (POR) – I guess Portland has just decided to ride him until the wheels fall off, 35 minutes Sunday.

Devin Harris (NJN) – He’s an absolute turnover machine, 5 more Sunday.

Troy Murphy (NJN) – Murphy got 10 minutes of run as he tries to come back from injury.  More minutes for Murphy probably means less minutes for Kris Humphries.

Hakim Warrick (PHO) – Got the start Sunday and shot 3 of 12, which are typical Turkoglu numbers.

Jason Richardson (PHO) – Great shooting night, 15 of 24 for 39 points.

Carmelo Anthony (DEN) – Left the game after three minutes with an illness.  Daily cash game players were not amused.

J.R. Smith (DEN) – Got a little extra run with Melo out and put up a nice line, 30pt/8reb/2ast.

Roy Hibbert (IND) – Last week’s minislump is over, 24pt/12reb/6ast.

Kobe Bryant (LAL) – 41 points on 33 shots.  Not quite Monta Ellis level, but still not very efficient.  He also bricked a couple of chances to win this one at the end.
