Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (1/13/11)

I had absolutely no luck in the $3000 Fanduel.com Fantasy Basketball Tournament Wednesday night.  I hung in the top 10 until the late games started and then just kept sliding to finish out of the money.  Fanduel.com has the tourney every Wednesday, so I’ll give it another shot next week.

I’m really sick of the Carmelo Anthony trade speculation.  I’d guess that it makes up about 20% of all articles in my feedreader lately.  Seems like this thing is a lot bigger in the internet world than in real life.

LeBron James (MIA) – Suffered a sprained ankle Wednesday.  Karma.

Darren Collison (IND) – Had his second good game in a row, going for 17pts/5reb/4ast/3stl.  It’s a great time to try and trade for him before owners realize that he might be getting ready to break out.

Paul George (IND) – George is definitely a keeper league target.  Indiana has been fascinated with going to a smaller lineup and George has taken advantage, 16 points on 6-9 shooting.   He went 4 0f 6 from three last night.  George is 6’8 and fits well at both SG and SF.

Jamal Crawford (ATL) – I had Joe Johnson in the tournament Wednesday, but should have gone with his backup.  Crawford put up 36 points on 12-23 shooting.

Josh Smith/Al Horford (ATL) – Both guys tweaked ankles Wednesday, so be safe and check their next gametime status before using them.

Leandro Barbosa (TOR) – I also went with DeMar DeRozan as my cheap pick in the tournament.  His backup, Barbosa, went off for 26 points on 11-16 shooting.  Who knew to go with the backups rather than the starters?

Gerald  Wallace (CHA) – Returned from an ankle injury and the Bobcats wasted no time throwing him back on the court for 41 minutes.  He looks fine to plug back into your lineup, 14pts/7reb/2blk.  The return of Wallace limited Gerald Henderson to only 10 minutes.

Zach Randolph (MEM) – 34pts/17reb.

O.J. Mayo (MEM) – Xavier Henry went down with an injury and Mayo couldn’t even crack the starting lineup.  Sam Young got the start Wednesday, but didn’t do much, 8pts/3reb.  Mayo’s line wasn’t any better, 8pts/1reb.  It might be getting time to cut him for a better option.

Greg Monroe (DET) – Another double-double, 14pt/10reb.  He did foul out in 30 minutes though.  Grab him in keeper leagues.

Tracy McGrady (DET) – Got the start at SG and had a nice line against the Grizzlies, 16pts/6reb/4ast/1stl/1blk.

Ben Gordon (DET) – Came off the bench for some instant offense, 8-17 for 25 points.

Rip Hamilton (DET) – Got the first DNP-CD of his career last night.  He’s not happy.  That team is a disaster right now, but could yield some fantasy gold if there is a shakeup.  Keep an eye on it.

Dwight Howard (ORL) – Big line from Howard, 29pts/20reb/2blk.

Emeka Okafor (NOR) – Performed surprisingly well against Howard, 18pts/14reb.

Marco Belinelli (NOR) – Went down with a sprained right ankle, no word on the severity.  Marcus Thornton got 32 minutes of run, going 7-18 for 22 points and should be a good pickup if Belinelli is going to miss time.

Chris Douglas-Roberts (MIL) – His hot streak came to an abrupt end, 0-2 for 0 points in 23 minutes.

Andrew Bogut (MIL) – Solid line, 15pts/14reb/4blk.

Russell Westbrook (OKC) – 23pts/8reb/13ast/2stl.  Westbrook went a little cold over the past couple of weeks, but looks like he could be returning to that dominant form that he showed early in the season.

Kevin Martin (HOU) – Missed his second game with a sore wrist.

Aaron Brooks/Kyle Lowery (HOU) – Started together in the backcourt for Houston and had very similar lines.  Brooks 17pts/5ast, Lowery 18pts/4ast.

Devin Harris (NJN) – Harris was able to return after missing a game and looked good, 15pts/15ast.  Get him back in your lineup.  Jordan Farmar still got 26 minutes with Harris back in the lineup.

Grant Hill (PHO) – Missed his second game in a row.  Josh Childress got the start but did nothing, 2pts/4reb.

Vince Carter (PHO) – Continues to get a lot of shot attempts, 9-20 for 23 points.

Shawne Williams/Bill Walker (NYK) – The Knicks got some surprise production out of Williams and Walker.  Williams managed 25 points on 8-12 shooting while Walker put up 23 points on 8-11 shooting.

C.J. Miles (UTA) – Continues to produce off the bench, 24 points on 10-16 shooting.  He’s a solid add if you need points.

Kobe Bryant (LAL) – Good shooting night, 13-21 for 39 points.

Monta Ellis (GSW) – Matched Kobe with 38 points on 15-26 shooting.

Blake Griffin (LAC) – Led the Clippers to a win over the Heat, 24pts/14reb/6ast.   He also went 6 of 9 from the line.

Baron Davis (LAC) – Davis should have a great second half if he can stay healthy, 20pts/9ast.

Chris Kaman (LAC) – He’s healing slowly and now isn’t expected back until February.  DeAndre Jordan is a great add until Kaman returns.

Allen Iverson – Suffered an ankle injury and it might be the end of a career.  Adjust your Turkish League Fantasy team accordingly.

Michael Beasley (MIN) – Doubtful tonight with a sprained ankle.  Corey Brewer could get some extra run.
