Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (1/14/11)

Andray Blatche (WAS) – Missed Thursday with a shoulder injury.  Rashard Lewis was able to slide to PF with Al Thornton moving into the starting lineup at SF.  Blatche probably could have played if the game was important, but are any Wizards games really that important?

John Wall (WAS) – He’s getting settled in now that Arenas is gone.  His nagging injuries also seem to be gone, 14pts/10ast/3stl.

Kirk Hinrich/Nick Young (WAS) – This continues to be a timeshare, but both guys are getting plenty of minutes and both are usable in fantasy leagues.  Hinrich 18pts/5ast, Young 15pts/4reb.

Michael Beasley (MIN) – Missed Thursday with an ankle injury.  Corey Brewer got another start, 10pts/4reb/4stl.

Jonny Flynn (MIN) – He’s really struggling to get it going again after his hip injury.  7-25 shooting over his last 5 games.  He will continue to float on waiver wires until he shows something.

Kevin Love (MIN) – 35pts/11reb.  5 of 6 from three.

Darko Milicic (MIN) – Tipped a jumpball into his own basket last night.  Only Darko could do this.  I love the WTF? look on his face as he just stands there in disbelief.  Video of the shot.

Dwight Howard (ORL) – 39 points, 18 rebounds.  He somehow managed to go 17-20 from the line, which is pretty good for a 59.8% career FT shooter.

Jameer Nelson (ORL) – Hedo Turkoglu and Gilbert Arenas are just killing Nelson’s fantasy value, 9pts/6ast.

Russell Westbrook (OKC) – Continues to regain his early season dominant form, triple-double last night, 32pts/10reb/13ast.

Nenad Krstic (OKC) – Rare good game from Krstic, 16pts/11reb in just 23 minutes, which is pretty awesome against Dwight Howard.

LeBron James (MIA) – Missed with an ankle sprain, the Heat lost.  That’s the risk of building your club around 3 stars rather than a team concept.

Dwyane Wade (MIA) – Wasn’t able to pick up the slack for the missing LeBron, 16pts/4reb/4ast.

Mike Miller (MIA) – Pushed his minutes up to 33 and it looks like he could become a useful fantasy player.  He had a very Mike Miller-like line, 4pts/8reb/8ast.  Miller won’t score a lot, but he is a great source of rebounds from the guard spot.  If LeBron could act as PG, it would allow the Heat to run Miller at SF.

J.R. Smith (DEN) – Got hot when the game was already decided, 28pts/7reb on 10-17 shooting.  He was 8 of 14 from three.

Brandon Roy (POR) – He’s probably going to have surgery on both knees soon.  Go ahead and drop him.

Jermaine O’Neal (BOS) – Could be looking at knee surgery.  If it happens, Kendrick Perkins could be forced back a little sooner and Shaq will continue to get decent minutes.

Kevin Garnett (BOS) – Was back at practice and could be good to go for his next game.  It might be a good idea to let him play a game or two before activating him.
