Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (1/18/11)
Jan 18, 2011 Blog
I’ve been playing some daily fantasy cash games on DraftStreet.com lately and the traffic on the site is really starting to pick up. They are one of the newer daily fantasy sites on the scene and have created some great features that some other sites don’t have. If you want to add another quality site to your list of fantasy choices, give DraftStreet.com a look. Registration is free and you can deposit with Paypal or a credit card.
Vince Carter (PHO) – Carter has looked good taking over for Jason Richardson, 29pts/12reb on 11 of 20 shooting. Carter should be a top 10 fantasy SG in the second half. He passed 20,000 points last night for his career.
Amare Stoudemire (NYK) – Good offensive night, 15-25 for 41 points. Only 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block though.
Danilo Gallinari (NYK) – Returned after missing a few games and played 31 minutes, scoring 17 points on 4 of 7 shooting. He should be safe to activate.
Raymond Felton (NYK) – He’s having some problems shooting the ball right now, 3-13 Monday for 7 points. He’s shooting 22 of 73 (30.1%) over his last five games.
Al Jefferson (UTA) – Really getting the hang of the Utah flex offense, 25 points on 11-18 shooting, 1o rebounds.
Andray Blatche (WAS) – Completely over his shoulder problems and safe to play, 21pts/11reb/3stl/4blk.
John Wall (WAS) – 19pts/15ast. He shot the ball a little better last night going 7 of 11. The only negative in his game was 7 turnovers.
Taj Gibson (CHI) – Got a start in place of Carlos Boozer and put up 10 points and 7 rebounds in 43 minutes. Luckily for fantasy owners, he saved the day with 6 blocks.
Derrick Rose (CHI) – Triple-double, 22pts/10reb/12ast.
Rudy Gay (MEM) – Suffered a hand injury which really hurt his shooting, 1-10 for 9 points. Check his next gametime status to make sure the injury wasn’t too serious.
Boris Diaw (CHA) – Triple-double, 25pts/11reb/11ast. Seccond triple-double in Charlotte Bobcats franchise history, Stephen Jackson had one earlier this season.
Stephen Jackson (CHA) – Just couldn’t get it going 7-24 for 15 points. He went 1 0f 11 from three. Ouch.
Kwame Brown (CHA) – Nice line from Kwame, 15pts/16reb.
Tyrus Thomas (CHA) – Got slapped with a one game suspension for throwing an elbow at Emeka Okafor on Saturday.
Jodie Meeks (PHI) – No idea why he is still in the starting lineup, 2-7 for 5 points. Lou Williams should have that starting spot, 8-15 for 23 points.
Ed Davis (TOR) – Making a case to be picked up in keeper leagues, another double-double, 11pts/12reb/2blk.
Linas Kleiza (TOR) – Missed with a sore knee. This could turn into a serious issue with Kleiza, so keep an eye on it. Sonny Weems is also out, so Julian Wright got the start, 11pts/6reb.
Emeka Okafor (NOR) – Starting to pick it up 17pts/16reb.
Chris Paul (NOR) – Another game with only 8 shot attempts, and he only made 1 of them. Fantasy owners have every right to be frustrated at this point. I don’t really see a jump in shot attempts for Paul any time soon.
Marcus Thornton (NOR) – Limited again to 16 minutes. He didn’t help himself buy going 2 of 10 shooting either.
Marco Belinelli (NOR) – Was able to return, but only played 15 minutes. Keep an eye on this situation to see if Jarrett Jack starts to get more run and possibly move into the starting SG spot.
Kevin Martin (HOU) – Showed that the wrist is just fine, 11 of 23 for 36 points.
Kyle Lowery/Aaron Brooks (HOU) – Combined to shoot 3-17 for 9 points. They also combined for only 8 assists.
Dirk Nowitzki (DAL) – Didn’t get hurt or ejected in this one, 32 points on 10-17 shooting.
Jason Kidd (DAL) – Really having some shooting problems, 0-7 Monday and he’s shooting 10 of 39 (25.6%) over his last 5 games.
Greg Monroe (DET) – 4 more steals to go along with 16pts/9reb.
Rip Hamilton (DET) – Another DNP-CD. He still gets paid though.
Darren Collison (IND) – Looking like a great second half play. It’s probably too late to steal him from another owner, but give it a shot anyway, 30 points on 10-17 shooting.
Blake Griffin (LAC) – Just amazing, 19 0f 24 for 47 points. He was also 9-11 from the line and grabbed 14 rebounds. I don’t think John Wall has any chance of catching him for Rookie of the Year.
Baron Davis (LAC) – Davis could be a nice second half play. He came into the season completely out of shape and also had a few nagging injuries. He looks to finally be healthy and in shape and could produce some nice fantasy lines the rest of the way.
Al Horford (ATL) – Picked up 6 more assists to go with 23pts/9reb. Fantasy owners have to love those assists from the center position.
Joe Johnson (ATL) – Got hot, 16-27 for 36 points.
Dwight Howard (ORL) – Solid game, 33pts/13reb. Howard has been a little light on his blocked shots lately and it may be a pullback on the aggression to keep him out of foul trouble.
Jameer Nelson (ORL) – His fantasy value is really tanking, 9pts/5ast. It might be a good time to try and dump him on an owner who hasn’t fully comprehended the fantasy value changes resulting from the Richardson / Arenas trades in Orlando.
Kevin Garnett (BOS) – Returned from his calf injury and played 31 minutes, 19pts/8reb. Get him back in your lineup.
Kevin Love (MIN) – 22pts/17reb.
Michael Beasley (MIN) – Returned from an ankle injury, but was only able to go 26 minutes and didn’t put up much of a line, 12 points on 4-8 shooting.
LeMarcus Aldridge (POR) – 37pts/12reb. Becoming a fantasy star.
Marcus Camby (POR) – Having some knee problems, scheduled for an MRI. Uh-oh. Fantasy owners have been holding their breath all season on a Camby injury. Be ready to grab Dante Cunningham if Camby’s injury is serious.
Russell Westbrook (OKC) – Just on fire lately, 32pts/12ast. Ride the streak in daily cash games while his salary price is still low.
