Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (12/16/10)
Dec 16, 2010 Blog
Daily Cash Games – Congrats to MLowe for winning first place and $600 in last night’s $2500 fantasy basketball tournament on Fanduel.com. Mark is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and a pretty good fantasy player too.
Andrew Bynum (LAL) – Got 18 minutes of action, but he’s still looking a little slow, 3pt/5reb.
Kobe Bryant (LAL) – 31 points on 18 shots. The Lakers win when Kobe shoots efficiently.
Danny Granger (IND) – Granger suited up and played 33 minutes on a sore ankle, but didn’t put up much of a line, 13pt/3reb/2ast.
Paul Pierce (BOS) – Great line, 32pt/10reb against the Knicks.
Shaq O’Neal (BOS) – Missed again Wednesday. Semih Erden got the start going 16 minutes and Glen Davis picked up 28 minutes.
Rajon Rondo (BOS) – Twisted an ankle, so check his gametime status for Thursday.
Amare Stoudemire (NYK) – He’s just unstoppable lately, 39pt/10reb. If only the Knicks could get one more player.
Raymond Felton (NYK) – Felton had another monster game, 26pt/14reb, which was surprising against a tough defense like the Celtics. I think the Knicks playoff hopes depend squarely on Felton.
Blake Griffin (LAC) – 20pt/18reb. He’s really distancing himself from the rest of the rookies. His performance has been extremely consistent for a new player.
Baron Davis (LAC) – The Clippers PG spot is starting to go back to Baron Davis. Davis got the start and 27 minutes while Eric Bledsoe only played 16.
Spencer Hawes (PHI) – Hawes has suddenly turned into a monster, 16pt/12reb with 5 blocks. I hope you grabbed him last week.
Jodie Meeks (PHI) – Meeks is losing steam, 9pt/4reb. Lou Williams and Evan Turner are patiently waiting their turn.
Carlos Boozer (CHI) – Big line, 34pt/12reb. The Bulls needed this with Rose and Noah hurting. Look for Boozer to put up some nice lines if Rose is hurting for a few games.
Derrick Rose (CHI) – Played through a sore wrist but wasn’t trying to shoot the ball too much. He mainly played the part of distributor, 6pt/11ast.
Joakim Noah (CHI) – He’s going to have surgery on this thumb and will be out for a couple of months. Grab Taj Gibson. You might even want to pickup Omer Asik if you need some help at center.
Jerryd Bayless (TOR) – Making his case for the starting PG spot in Toronto, 20pt/3reb/4ast. Grab him in keeper leagues.
Anderson Varejao (CLE) – Teams have been exposing Miami’s weakness of defending opposing centers and Varejao continued that trend, 18pt/15reb.
Carlos Arroyo/Mario Chalmers (MIA) – Arroyo missed Wednesday due to a personal matter and Chalmers got the start. Chalmers put up a nice 14pt/4ast line which might get him a little more playing time.
Tyreke Evans (SAC) – Evans was a surprise start and had a solid game, 22pt/4reb/7ast. It’s admirable that he wants to play, but why gamble with the health of the franchise player when your club is 5-18?
Chris Paul (NOR) – Good game from Paul, 22pt/11ast. Nice to see him scoring a little more.
Marcus Thornton (NOR) – Finally got some minutes and produced 19 points on 8-15 shooting. You might want to check the wire just in case an owner dropped him. It’s also possible that he could also be a trade chip for the Hornets and currently being showcased with the extra minutes.
Kevin Durant (OKC) – Good shooting night, 12-18 for 32 points.
Gerald Wallace (CHA) – Wallace missed Wednesday with an ankle injury. Dominic McGuire got the start. Charlotte has to be one of the biggest disappointments in the NBA this season, although I’m not sure that people should be surprised with Michael Jordan running a team. Great player, bad manager.
O.J. Mayo (MEM) – Trying desperately to get his starting SG spot back and he may get it soon with more performances like this, 24 points on 10-15 shooting.
Chris Douglas-Roberts (MIL) – Moved into the starting lineup and didn’t disappoint, 8-15 shooting for 21 points. Definitely worth an add if you need help at SF.
Drew Gooden (MIL) – Looks to be recovered from some nagging injuries, 20pt/11reb.
Ersan Ilyasova (MIL) – Moved into the starting lineup but didn’t have a great game, 13pt/6reb. He’s a good player and should be on your waiver wire watchlist.
Kevin Love (MIN) – Even though the overall line was 23pt/16reb, the Suns did a fairly good job of containing him. I could have been much worse.
Martell Webster (MIN) – Webster is another guy you might want to add to your waiver wire watchlist. Monitor his minutes.
Channing Frye (PHO) – Frye was launching threes on Wednesday, 7-12 from three for 21 points in the game.
Steve Nash (PHO) – 19 assists, but he only took 4 shots. He really needs to take more shots than that.
Robin Lopez (PHO) – Returned after missing 14 games and had a solid game, 12pt/8reb. Check your wire to see if he’s still out there.
LaMarcus Aldridge (POR) – Big game, 34pt/10reb.
Anthony Morrow (NJN) – He’s going to miss 2-3 weeks. Jordan Farmar might pick up a few starts in is place.
Brandon Roy (POR) – Another disappointment, 4pt/5ast. At some point, the Blazers have to realize that he’s hurting more than helping.
DeJuan Blair (SAS) – Suffered a knee injury and is day to day. Check his status before starting him. If he can’t go, Tiago Splitter could pick up some extra minutes.
Ed Davis (TOR) – Grab Davis if you are in a keeper league. He could soon end up with a major role in the rotation.
