Trade News and Fantasy Value Changes:
Gilbert Arenas (ORL) – Traded to the Orlando Magic. I think he probably drops just a little in value, but not too much. I think the trade to a contender might actually bring out the best in Arenas.
Rashard Lewis (WAS) – Lewis goes to Washington and will probably be a starter. Going from a championship contender to a lottery team is really going to be tough for Lewis. I think his value all depends on his attitude.
Marcin Gortat (PHO) – Gortat is a huge winner with the trade to Phoenix and may even earn a starting job with the Suns. Phoenix lacks rebounding and Robin Lopez probably isn’t the answer. Grab Gortat.
Jason Richardson (PHO) – I think Richardson may lose value going from the fast paced Suns where he was a primary scoring option to a slower paced Magic team who run a lot of offense through Dwight Howard. He’s also got to compete for shots with the newly acquired Gilbert Arenas.
Vince Carter (PHO) – His value should see a tick up with the trade to the Suns. He’ll probably be given the freedom to shoot as much as he wants, which he’ll definitely do.
Hedo Turkoglu (ORL) – His value couldn’t get any lower could it? Maybe going back to a team that knows how to use his skill set will help his fantasy value.
Nick Young/John Wall/Kirk Hinrich (WAS) – John Wall will be the clear leader on this team now and should see big minutes, if he can get healthy. Nick Young and Kirk Hinrich will compete for time at SG, but I think there is a real possibility that Nick Young gets this spot and Hinrich gets traded.
Brandon Bass (ORL) – Bass should move into the starting lineup with Rashard Lewis getting traded and is a must add in all leagues.
Jameer Nelson (ORL) – Could lose minutes if the Magic decide to have Gilbert Arenas playing PG.
Al Thornton/Josh Howard (WAS) – Both players lose value with Rashard Lewis now starting at SF for the Wizards.
Hakeem Warrick/Channing Frye (PHO) – With Turkoglue now out of the PF mix, Warrick and Frye should gain some minutes.
Game Notes from Saturday Night:
Nick Young (WAS) – Young was forced to play 46 minutes with the trade of Arenas and Wall out with an injury, 36 points on 13-23 shooting.
Amare Stoudemire (NYK) – 23pt/11reb, but he had 8 turnovers. The turnovers have been a problem all year with Amare.
Mo Williams (CLE) – Really starting to heat up for the Cavs, 23pt/14ast.
Daniel Gibson (CLE) – Horrible shooting night, 4-20 for 11 points.
Blake Griffin (LAC) – 29pt/12reb.
Baron Davis (LAC) – Got the start at PG and had a good game, 16pt/7ast. Davis and Eric Bledsoe are still in a timeshare and determining the starter on a daily basis has been impossible.
Taj Gibson (CHI) – Gibson was looking like a great pickup with Joakim Noah out, but he only got 9 minutes of action Saturday. Give him another game or two and then look for a better option.
Ersan Ilyasova/Chris Douglas-Roberts (MIL) – Both guys moved into the starting lineup and neither of them is really doing anything. Give them a few more games and then look elsewhere.
O.J. Mayo (MEM) – Moved back into the starting lineup and responded with 27pt/5reb/5ast. Check your wire to see if anyone dropped him.
Rudy Gay (MEM) – Missed Saturday with a one game suspension.
Tony Parker (SAS) – Got hot putting up 37pt/9ast.
Kevin Love (MIN) – Line of the night, 43pt/17reb. Just amazing. It helped that Darko Milicic was out with an injury.
Jonny Flynn (MIN) – Played 24 minutes and looked better shooting 5-7 for 12 points. He could take the starting job from Luke Ridnour soon, so check your wire.
Ty Lawson (DEN) – Continues to start for an injured Chauncey Billups, 23pt/4reb/9ast/3stl. Grab Lawson, especially in keeper leagues.
Dante Cunningham (POR) – The Blazers are more beat up than usual and it was Camby out last night for Portland. Cunningham got the start, 13pt/5reb in 39 minutes.
Rudy Fernandez (POR) – Fernandez also got a start in this one for Brandon Roy, 15pt/4reb/6ast/3stl.
Spencer Hawes (PHI) – How aggravating, I finally pick him up and start him and he drops 2pt/2reb before fouling out. Don’t panic though, Dwight Howard does that to a lot of opposing centers.
Dwight Howard (ORL) – The Magic were shorthanded and Howard had to pick up the slack, 26pt/20reb.
