Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (12/2/11)

Toney Douglas (NYK) – Douglas hasn’t totally recovered from his May 4 labrum surgery and may be behind in his rehab.

Corey Maggette (CHA) – Paul Silas has indicated that Maggette will start at SF for the Bobcats.  He also expects Maggette to carry the scoring load for Charlotte and average 20 points a game.  It would be fantasy gold if he could actually live up to that, but I have my doubts.

Mike Miller (MIA) – Miller had abdominal surgery earlier this week to repair a muscle problem and there’s speculation that he could be out up to 8 weeks.  That might seal his amnesty fate.

Timofey Mozgov (DEN) – It appears that Denver might actually be leaning toward starting Mozgov if they can’t keep Nene.  The guy has some talent and might be worth a late round flier.  Chris Andersen might also be an option and see decent minutes this season.

Jarrett Jack (NOR) – If you own Chris Paul, you might want to also pick up Jack just in case Paul skips town.  Jack could make a decent PG filler if Paul gets traded.

Josh Smith (ATL) – Michael Cunningham reports that Josh Smith has dropped about 30 pounds this offseason which should help his knees.

Kevin Love (MIN) – It has also been reported that Kevin Love dropped about 25 pounds and is in excellent shape.

Amare Stoudemire (NYK) – Stoudemire says that his back has fully healed.  He should be a fantasy monster this season.

Carmelo Anthony (NYK) – Melo seems to be fully recovered from his elbow problems.  He had surgery in May and reported no pain after working out yesterday.

Kirk Hinrich (ATL) – Hinrich recently had shoulder surgery and could be out until sometime in January.  Hopefully by that point Jeff Teague will have solidified himself as the starting PG for the Hawks.  Hinrich is still a fantasy asset since he can backup Teague at the point and Joe Johnson at SG.

Chris Bosh (MIA) – Bosh has reportedly packed on some muscle and says he’s willing to play some center for the Heat.  It would really help his fantasy value if he could pick and/or maintain Center eligibility in all leagues.

Udonis Haslem (MIA) – Haslem is a guy that a lot of drafters will forget about, but he’s had extra time to let his injured foot heal and he could be a threat to put up double-doubles at PF for the Heat, especially if Bosh moves to Center.  Keep him on your waiver wire watchlist.

Kyrie Irving (CLE) – It’s looking like Baron Davis is going to stick with the Cavs at least to start the season which really crushes any hope of Irving moving into the starting PG spot.  There have been some rumors though of Irving starting along side Davis, but he would have to hold off Ramon Sessions, Manny Harris and Daniel Gibson for minutes.  I’d still grab Irving fairly high in keeper leagues.
