Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (12/30/10)
Dec 30, 2010 Blog
Daily Cash Games – Not much luck in the Fanduel.com $3000 Tournament last night. My team had an average night putting up 293 points, but that was only good for 71st place out of 315 teams. This tourney runs every Wednesday at Fanduel.com, so maybe next week will be better!
New Year’s Posting Schedule – I will be out Friday, Saturday and Sunday to attend a wedding in Pennsylvania. At least it isn’t snowing – yet. I’ll be back posting daily starting Monday, January 3.
News, Notes and Injuries from Wednesday’s Fantasy Action:
Dorrell Wright (GSW) – Got hot hitting 13 of 21 shots for 32 points.
Al Horford (ATL) – Despite dealing with a lingering hand injury, Horford put up a nice line, 21pt/15ast. He was scheduled to have an MRI, but that was cancelled and he should be a safe play going forward so keep him active.
Roy Hibbert (IND) – Hibbert went from being a top 5 center to barely being playable in daily cash games, 5pt/4reb. He’s really having some inconsistent results right now, so just avoid him until he gets straightened out.
Rashard Lewis (WAS) – If you want to trade Lewis, now is the time. You can probably pump up his move to Washington and his first few good performances and try to get a young player to keep for next season. Once he settles in and starts looking very average, your chance will be gone.
John Wall (WAS) – Has climbed back to 35 minutes a night and should be safe to activate again. Nearly a triple double last night, 10pt/7reb/12ast.
Kirk Hinrich (WAS) – Left in the second quarter with a thigh injury. If he misses time, Nick Young becomes a great short term add.
Mo Williams (CLE) – Missed with a hip problem. Ramon Sessions got some extra run, 22pt/5reb/4ast. Not sure how long Williams is going to be out.
Gerald Wallace (CHA) – He returned from an ankle injury, but didn’t have much of a line, 9pt/10reb. His value should increase now that Paul Silas has taken over the team and tried to implement a more uptempo game.
Kevin Garnett (BOS) – Suffered an leg injury going up for a dunk and didn’t return. It looked like it could be something serious, but nothing has been determined yet. He’s set for an MRI today. Grab Glen Davis if you need a backup for Garnett.
Tracy McGrady (DET) – Rodney Stuckey missed last night and Tracy McGrady got the start at PG, 21pt/4reb/8ast/3stl. Stuckey’s injury isn’t serious, so don’t expect this to last long.
Andrew Bynum (LAL) – Moved back into the starting lineup and should move back into your fantasy lineup as well, 18pt/6reb.
Lamar Odom (LAL) – Don’t drop Odom now that he’s moved to the bench. He still got 31 minutes last night and should get something in that neighborhood the rest of the season, 24pt/5reb. He’s still valuable.
Chauncey Billups (DEN) – The Nuggets were without Anthony, Kenyon Martin and Nene last night and Billups picked up the slack, 36pt/5ast. He’s a great daily play until the Nuggets get some players back.
Chris Anderson (DEN) – Anderson is a nice short term add with Harrington and Nene out and Martin still working into gameshape.
Martell Webster (MIN) – Has settled into 25 minutes a night and can help you in the scoring category, 17 points on 6-11 shooting.
Sasha Vujacic/Jordan Farmar (NJN) – Much like they did in LA, they are hurting each other’s fantasy value in New Jersey.
Oklahoma City Center – This position has turned into a three headed monster, none of them worth much in fantasy land. Nenad Krstic, Serge Ibaka and Nick Collison are getting roughly equal minutes.
Dwyane Wade (MIA) – He’s been turning in some huge lines lately, 45 points on 17 of 24 shooting.
Aaron Brooks (HOU) – Probably just a couple of games away from moving back into the starting lineup, 20pt/9ast.
Andre Iguodala (PHI) – Missed another game with his achilles problem. Andres Nocioni got the start and 41 minutes, 22pt/12reb. If Iguodala gets shut down, Nocioni and Thad Young both become nice short term pickups.
Evan Turner (PHI) – Trying to grab the starting SG spot back from Jodie Meeks, 23 points on 9-12 shooting. Meeks went 0-3.
Marcin Gortat (PHO) – Gortat could move into the starting lineup soon. He got 35 minutes Wednesday, 13pt/6reb/2blk. Check your wire to see if he’s still out there.
Mickael Pietrus (PHO) – Pietrus is another guy you will want to keep an eye on. He’s getting some good minutes in Phoenix and could be a nice add if Vince Carter elects to have surgery.
Vince Carter (PHO) – Made his Phoenix debut and it was a good one, 8-20 for 18 points. He’s going to be a great fantasy play if he keeps getting 20 shot attempts.
Zach Randolph (MEM) – Big line, 35pt/17reb. He took 27 shots.
DeMarcus Cousins (SAC) – 37 minutes, 21pt/16reb. I think the Kings are just going to have to live with his immaturity for now. You just can’t keep this guy on the bench, he must be developed this season if the Kings want to move forward in the near future.
Andrei Kirilenko/C.J. Miles (UTA) – Kirilenko missed with a back problem and Miles missed with the flu. Gordon Hayward got 41 minutes and put up 17pt/6reb.
Marvin Williams (ATL) – Suffered a back injury Wednesday. No word yet on how much time he might miss, so check his next gametime status.
Mehmet Okur (UTA) – Left with a back injury, check his next gametime status.
Darko Milicic (MIN) – Suffered a hip injury Wednesday and had to leave the game.
David West (NOR) – Injured an ankle last night. He tried to play through it, but finally gave up and left the game.
Daniel Gibson (CLE) – Suffered a thigh injury Wednesday.
