Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (1/27/11)

I finally had a little luck in the Fanduel.com Wednesday tournament grabbing 7th place out of 385 teams.   There are two fantasy basketball tournaments scheduled for Friday, a $3500 tourney and a $1000 tourney.  Registration at Fanduel.com is free and you can deposit with Paypal or a credit card, so get signed up and come play the Friday tournies with me!

Ryan Anderson (ORL) – Continues to knock down threes, 4 of 7 last night.  Great source of 3PM from the PF spot.

Darren Collison (IND) – Got 18 shot attempts and has become one of the primary options in the Pacer offense.   A big second half might be in store for Collison.

Danny Granger (IND) – Played through a sore ankle, but you could tell it was affecting his shot, 6 of 19 for 27 points.  He should continue to get his minutes, so keep him in your lineup.

Paul George (IND) – I’ve had George on my waiver wire watchlist for awhile and it might be time to grab him, especially in keeper leagues.  Mike Dunleavy and Brandon Rush aren’t the future of the Pacers, so you might see George given a larger role in the rotation to get him some experience for next season.  He’s 6’8 and has the ability to play SG and SF.

Anthony Morrow (NJN) – It didn’t take Morrow long to find his shooting touch after returning from injury, 8 of 12 for 19 points.  Check your wire to see if anyone dropped him due to injury.

Jodie Meeks (PHI) – I’m not sure how much longer the Sixers can keep putting Meeks on the floor, 0-5 last night.  Lou Williams and Evan Turner should both be ahead of him on the depth chart.

Marreese Speights (PHI) – Played 17 minutes and put up 23 points on 10 of 12 shooting.  Speights could find himself with some decent minutes if Spencer Hawes continutes to falter.

DeMar DeRozan (TOR) – Another solid game, 9 of 18 for 29 points.

Nene (DEN) – Was a surprise scratch with a strained right calf.  Al Harrington got the start but could only manage 10 points on 4 of 13 shooting.  Harrington was my sleeper play on my tourney team and I really could have used a better performance from him in his 38 minutes.

Greg Monroe (DET) – Continues to start and impress, 14pts/7reb/2blk.  He’s a must add in keeper leagues.

Rodney Stuckey (DET) – Suffered a shoulder injury Wednesday.  Rip Hamilton was out with the flu, so Ben Gordon took over.  It will be an interesting situation if Stuckey is going to be out for awhile and the team ends up needing Hamilton.

Al Horford (ATL) – Returned from an ankle injury and had a good line, 17pts/10reb/5ast.  Get him back in your lineup and enjoy the assists from the center position.

Carlos Delfino (MIL) – Delfino is worthy of a waiver wire claim.  He can help you with threes, rebounds  and steals.  He got 32 minutes last night, putting up 15pts/5reb/4ast/1stl.  He also went 5 of 9 from three.

Kevin Durant (OKC) – Exploded last night for 47 points and 18 rebounds.  Unfortunately for me, he cost me about $900 in the Fanduel.com tourney.  The 6 teams finishing above me all had Durant going, with the tourney winner scoring 340.  My team put up 323 without Durant.

Kevin Love (MIN) – Make sure you load your team with Kevins.  Love put up 31 points and 21 rebounds Wednesday.

Blake Griffin (LAC) – Not sure if the elbow was bothering him, but his shooting was off, 5 of 16 for only 14 points.

DeAndre Jordan (LAC) – Jordan could be a really nice gamble for next season if you are in a keeper league.   There’s always the possibility that the Clippers move Chris Kaman, maybe even this season.

Randy Foye (LAC) – Foye is a hot pickup right now, 20 points on 7 of 17 shooting.  Grab him for the next couple of weeks if you need points.

Chuck Hayes (HOU) – Another helpful fantasy line, 5pts/11reb/3stl/2blk.

Kevin Martin (HOU) – Couldn’t get it going, 3-11 for just 8 points.

Kwame Brown (CHA) – Another double-double, grab him off the wire.

Vince Carter (PHO) – Got back on track last night going 8 of 17 for 22 points.   He’s been dealing with some knee pain, so keep an eye on him.

Marcin Gortat (PHO) – Trying to establish himself as the better center in Phoenix, 16pts/7reb.  Definitely worth a gamble in keeper leagues.

Andrei Kirilenko (UTA) – Sloan pulled a fast one on fantasy owners and put Kirilenko back in the starting lineup, sending C.J. Miles back to the bench.   Miles’ value is still as 6th man on the Jazz.

Deron Williams (UTA) – Great offensive game, 16 of 24 for 39 points.

Chris Paul (NOR) – Only 9 shot attempts against the weak defense of the Warriors.  At least he made 7 of them.  He also posted 17 assists.

Stephen Curry (GSW) – Played 39 minutes and the ankle looked fine, 20 points on 8 of 13 shooting.  Make sure he’s in your lineup.
