Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (6/25/11)

Qualifying Offers Extended – Thaddeus Young (PHI), Spencer Hawes (PHI), Marc Gasol (MEM), Aaron Brooks (HOU).

Player Contract Options Exercised/Extended – DeMarcus Cousins (SAC), Tyreke Evans (SAC), Omri Casspi (SAC), Zydrunas Ilgauskas (MIA), Ronny Turiaf (NYK), Jeff Teague (ATL), Sam Young (MEM), DeMar Derozan (TOR), Darren Collison (IND), Tyler Hansbrough (IND), Paul George (IND), Ryan Hollins (CLE).

Kurt Rambis (MIN) – Rambis is out as head coach in Minnesota.  Probably good news for Kevin Love’s minutes.

David Kahn (MIN) – It looks like the Wolves have selected an ineligible player in Tanguy Ngombo.   Ngombo reported his age as 21, but he’s probably 26 or 27.  Not sure why the Wolves would take this kind of reckless risk when there were so many better, and safer, options out there.  Mr. Kahn, Google is your friend, use it.

Draft Grades – Good article from Ball Don’t Lie grading each NBA team on their draft night moves.  More draft grades from CBS Sports and draft grades from NBC’s Pro Basketball Talk and draft grades from SBNation and draft grades from SportsIllustrated.

Draft Day TradesA complete list of all the trades made on Draft Night.

George Hill (IND) – The Spurs traded George Hill to Indiana for Kawhi Leonard.  That pretty much signals that Tony Parker should remain in San Antonio.  Hill is an excellent player and the Pacers probably came out on top in this trade, at least in the short term.  From a fantasy perspective, Hill might have to continue to compete for minutes since he’s probably stuck behind Darren Collison.  Parker’s value could increase as he will be required to play more minutes without Hill around.

Jonny Flynn (HOU) – The Timberwolves traded Flynn to the Rockets on draft night.  Flynn is now stuck behind Kyle Lowry and maybe even Goran Dragic on the depth chart so his fantasy potential doesn’t appear to be getting any brighter.  He could still be available for a trade out of Houston.

Andre Miller (DEN)/Raymond Felton (POR) – The Blazers and Nuggets exchanged PG’s sending Andre Miller to Denver and Raymond Felton to Portland.  This clouds Ty Lawson’s value a little since Miller certainly wasn’t acquired to sit on the bench in Denver.  Felton could see a huge spike in value in Portland and is someone to defintely keep an eye on this coming season.
