Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (9/25/10)

Tough game coming up today for my Crimson Tide at Arkansas. You know where I’ll be this afternoon. Rolllllll Tide!! I’m making my way through the Small Forwards this weekend and will post some notes on each player at the position on Monday.
Fanduel.com posted their first daily fantasy basketball cash games yesterday. Preseason live cash games start October 5th, so get over there and get signed up and start building your rosters and getting a feel for their software.
Injury Notes
Kobe Bryant – Reports have his knee recovering well from surgery this summer. He didn’t have the finger surgery, but it didn’t seem to hurt him last season and he should be able to play through it again this season. Probably nothing to worry about.
Mo Williams – He suffered a minor groin injury that will keep him out a couple of weeks of training camp. If you follow his Twitter feed, it also seems he’s dealing with some other personal issues. I’m getting a bad vibe from him lately. If he falters this year, look for Ramon Sessions to try and steal minutes at the PG position.
Jonny Flynn – He had hip surgery in July and was expected to miss 3-4 months. The latest reports have him only missing the first week of the season, but I’d play it safe and probably look for him to be out for the first month.
Wesley Johnson – He’s got a hamstring problem that will limit his training camp. This probably wouldn’t be a big issue if he was a veteran, but as a rookie missing all that camp time is going to put him way behind to start the season. He’s still a good target in keeper leagues.
Andrew Bynum – Rumor is that he put off surgery on his knee to attend the World Cup and now he isn’t ready to start the season. This isn’t the start that fantasy owners were hoping for.
Yao Ming – Looks like he’s on a 24 minute limit and very few back to backs.
Brad Miller – Yao’s backup is having some injury problems of his own with a sprained ankle that will keep him out two weeks. Miller is a nice sleeper if you have bench space.
Corey Maggette – He had offseason ankle surgery and he’s going to be a limited in camp. Don’t panic when you see him sitting for much of camp.
Daniel Orton – He’s got a serious knee injury that may keep him out of training camp. He wasn’t going to see much time anyway with Dwight Howard and Marcin Gortat ahead of him. If you were targeting him in a keeper league, his price should be pretty cheap.
Player Notes
Timofey Mosgov – Starting to see some rumors that he might land the starting center spot in New York. Here’s a scouting report with some video of Mozgov. Put him on your sleeper chart and follow him in preseason.
Golden State Warriors – Don Nelson finally got canned, so keep an eye on how new coach Keith Smart treats Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry and David Lee. Smart might not stray too far from what Nelson has already implemented in GSW, but watch it closely and adjust those three guys accordingly.
Andray Blatche – The Wizards locked him up with a 5 year, $35 million contract extension and you might want to do the same in your keeper league.
Rashard Lewis – He could get more time at small forward this year and could end up with multi-position eligibility. Probably not a huge change in his stats, but it opens the door at PF for Ryan Anderson and Brandon Bass.
