Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes for November 19
Nov 19, 2012 Blog
The New York Knicks kept it rolling Sunday moving to 7-1 with an 88-76 win over the Indiana Pacers. I’m not sure how they are doing it with this roster, but it will definitely be interesting to see what happens when Amare Stoudemire returns. Here’s the fantasy basketball highlights from Sunday:
Indiana 76 @ New York 88
Paul George led the Pacers with 15 shot attempts, making 6 of them for a team high 20 points. He was 4 of 7 from three point range.
Roy Hibbert is really slumping right now and it might be a great opportunity to send a buy low offer to an impatient owner. Hibbert had 6 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks Sunday.
Sam Young and Gerald Green have settled into an equal timeshare at the starting small forward position. Young could be worth a look in deeper leagues if he starts to get near the 25 minute range.
Carmelo Anthony had a nice game with 26 points and 9 rebounds in 31 minutes.
J. R. Smith continues to provide all around production going for 13 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a block.
Nobody played more than 31 minutes for New York.
Orlando 86 @ Toronto 97
Glen Davis had a solid 16 point, 12 rebound double-double and led the Magic with 17 shot attempts.
Jameer Nelson with 9 more assists. Check your wire to see if Nelson is out there after missing time with an injury.
E’Twaun Moore is holding fantasy value even with the return of Jameer Nelson. Moore logged 28 minutes with 16 points and 4 assists.
Jose Calderon had 18 assists. Enjoy the ride while Kyle Lowry is out.
Andrea Bargnani had 17 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
Jonas Valanciunas had only 6 points and 8 rebounds squaring off against Nikola Vucevic. Vucevic went for 12 points, 6 rebounds. Continue to be patient with Valanciunas.
Cleveland 79 @ Philadelphia 86
Tristan Thompson with a 14 point, 13 rebound double-double. He led the Cavs with 14 shot attempts.
Anderson Varejao bounced back with a 14 point, 15 rebound night.
Kyrie Irving is playing with a finger injury, which may have contributed to his 4 of 14 game.
Daniel Gibson missed the game with an elbow injury.
Dion Waiters went 2 of 13. Hang in there with the rookie, the Cavs really don’t have any other options at shooting guard.
Evan Turner is really starting to break out: 19 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds.
Dorell Wright is starting to fade out of the rotation, getting only 12 minutes Sunday. He’s a likely a drop to the wire soon.
Spencer Hawes got 28 minutes, but he’s just too inconsistent to use in daily roster games. Leave him on the wire for now.
Nick Young left Sunday’s game with dizziness and didn’t return.
Brooklyn 99 @ Sacramento 90
Gerald Wallace returned to action, but didn’t do much producing 4 points, 1 rebound and 3 assists. Give him a week to get back in shape, he should be fine.
Joe Johnson had a 1 for 10 dud.
Andray Blatche had 22 points and you have to wonder how long it might be before he starts to cut into Kris Humphries’ minutes. It really depends on how much the Nets need scoring.
Kris Humphries only managed 6 points, but he did grab 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks.
Deron Williams had a minor arm injury, he should be fine, but give it a look before his next start.
John Salmons got the start in place of James Johnson. I was really high on Johnson this season, but he’s looking like strictly waiver wire material.
Aaron Brooks got the start at point guard over Isaiah Thomas. I have no idea what the Kings are thinking with Brooks. Thomas should be the future at PG, but the Kings are really messing with his head right now. Hang on to Thomas for now.
Marcus Thornton went 3 of 10 from three.
Jason Thompson is a nice waiver wire add if you need points and rebounds.
Golden State 109 @ Oklahoma City 119
David Lee is quietly having a pretty good fantasy season, 19 points and 10 rebounds Sunday.
Harrison Barnes got 30 minutes of run and looks to have a strong hold on starters minutes.
Klay Thompson continues to disappoint with his subpar shooting. He’s just getting over the flu, so be patient.
Richard Jefferson strained a calf and could miss some time. Give Draymond Green a look if Jefferson is going to be out extended time. Harrison Barnes should also see increased minutes without Jefferson around.
Serge Ibaka had 16 points, which fantasy owners have to love.
Kevin Durant had a triple-double: 25 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
Russell Westbrook with 30 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. He was icing his wrist after the game, so check it before his next start.
Kevin Martin was gunning last night putting up 23 points in 31 minutes. He also had 5 assists. He’s giving Jamal Crawford a big challenge for sixth man of the year.
Boston 83 @ Detroit 103
Fairly sure nobody saw this one coming.
Kevin Garnett has played only 20 and 17 minutes in his last two games.
Paul Pierce tweaked an ankle, so check it for his next start.
Rajon Rondo 10 assists, but 6 turnovers.
Jared Sullinger led the Celtics with 16 points. You know it’s probably a bad game when Sullinger leads the team in scoring.
Greg Monroe with a 20 point, 13 rebound double-double.
Kyle Singer got another start and put up another 14 point game. Give him a look in deeper leagues.
Andre Drummond with 3 fouls in 18 minutes. I can’t wait until the Pistons tank this season and go with Drummond for 30 minutes a night. He’s got some real potential.
Rodney Stuckey looked better going for 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. It’s probably time to check your wire and grab Stuckey for a bounceback.
Chicago 94 @ Portland 102
Third game of a five game roadtrip, the Bulls are 1-2 so far.
Joakim Noah nearly had a triple double: 16 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists.
Nate Robinson had 18 points in 19 minutes.
Taj Gibson and Carlos Boozer both got 22 minutes, Gibson was way better.
LaMarcus Aldridge with an 18 point, 13 rebound double-double.
Nicolas Batum 5 of 10 from three.
Wesley Matthews led the Blazers with 15 shot attempts and 21 points.
Meyers Leonard with 4 fouls in 9 minutes.
Houston 108 @ LA Lakers 119
Chandler Parsons shot 8 of 10 for a team high 24 points.
Jeremy Lin had 10 assists, but shot just 2 of 9.
James Harden scored 20 points with 7 assists, but he couldn’t cover Kobe at all.
Omer Asik with a tough test against Dwight Howard, he did pretty well with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Asik took an elbow the head and needed stitches, so check his availability for his next game.
Darius Morris got another start, 12 points and 5 assists with 2 steals.
Kobe with a triple double: 22 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists.
Dwight Howard got the best of Omer Asik posting 28 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks.
World Peace has been a surprising fantasy asset, 15 points and 3 rebounds.
