Fantasy Basketball Daily News: NBA Schedule Complaint Edition (1/22/10)

Why doesn’t the NBA balance their schedule so that there are an equal number of games every night?   A couple of days a week there are only 2 games and on other days there are 13 games.   Yeah, I understand the TNT TV contract, but I can’t possibly watch 13 games at once and I get bored with only a single game on.  Not to mention that fantasy basketball really sucks on those days with only two games.  It’s like I have to skip an entire day for my stats addiction and lately it seems that I always have other things going on on the nights when there are 13 games on the schedule.   Also, playing daily cash games with only two games on the schedule is nearly impossible because everyone ends up with the same players on their team.  Someone get David Stern on the phone.

Fantasy Basketball Player News and Notes:

  • Eric Gordon (sprained toe) and Sebastian Telfair (groin) both missed for the Clippers last night.   Gordon may be back by Sunday, however Telfair may be out for awhile.
  • Brandon Roy is going to miss the next two games (maybe four)  for Portland with a hamstring injury.  Jerryd Bayless should get the start.  Steve Blake should also see an increase in minutes.
  • Mo Williams missed last night with a shoulder injury and reports are that he’s going to miss 4-6 weeks.  Delonte West got the start, but he injured his finger late in the game and I’m not sure how serious it is.   Daniel Gibson would probably get the start if West can’t go.  West also has other issues which make him undependable, so be careful starting him in daily cash games.
  • John Salmons will return from the flu tonight for Chicago.
  • Robin Lopez could get a chance to keep the starting center spot in Phoenix.  Teams have figured out Channing Frye and his one trick pony three point shooting act.  Phoenix needs better rebounding from it’s center and Lopez delivers.
  • Kevin Garnett is set to play against Portland on Friday.  I’d leave him benched for this one just to be safe.
  • Kevin Love says he’ll play Friday.  He’s been suffering from strep throat.
  • Indiana is considering changing their lineup, sending either Roy Hibbert or Troy Murphy to the bench.  I’d bet on Hibbert getting some bench time since he’s usually there anyway due to foul trouble.  Playing him less would allow him to go full speed when he’s in and not worry about the fouls.
