Fantasy Basketball Daily Pre-Game Report for Monday, January 9
Jan 9, 2012 Blog
Basketball is on the back burner tonight, it’s time to watch my Crimson Tide take down the National Championship!!
There are only 6 games on the NBA schedule tonight and the daily tourneys are open for registration. All tourneys tip off at 7:00 PM EST. Here’s what we’ve got for tonight:
Monday Night NBA Schedule, Starting Lineups, Injuries and Sit/Starts
Minnesota @ Toronto (-3.5) 187.5 Total
MIN: (R. Rubio/L. Ridnour), W. Johnson, D. Williams, K. Love, D. Milicic
TOR: J. Calderon, D. DeRozan, (J. Johnson/R. Butler), A. Bargnani, A. Johnson
- Michael Beasley is out, Derrick Williams will get the start at SF
- The Ricky Rubio/Luke Ridnour platoon is starting to swing toward Rubio winning the starting job and majority of minutes.
- Kevin Love has a big rebounding advantage over Andrea Bargnani.
- DeMar DeRozan has had two poor games in a row and it might be best to lay off him for a night or two until he snaps out of it.
- Game Preview from Raptors Republic
Indiana @ Philadelphia (-5.5) 182.50 Total
IND: D. Collison, P. George, D. Granger, D. West, R. Hibbert
PHI: J. Holiday, (E. Turner/J. Meeks), A. Iguodala, E. Brand, S. Hawes
- Danny Granger twisted and ankle in his last game and could be slowed. He’s also dealing with food poisoning and is listed as questionable. Avoid him tonight.
- Spencer Hawes suffered back spasms in his last game, check his gametime status.
- Roy Hibbert is a gametime decision with a sore ankle. If Hibbert can’t go, Lou Amundson and Jeff Foster will hold down the center spot.
- The total of 182.5 is very low, which could limit the pace of this game and produce some weak fantasy numbers.
- George Hill is questionable, which means bigger minutes for Paul George and Darren Collison.
Atlanta (-5.5) @ New Jersey 178 Total
ATL: J. Teague, J. Johnson, V. Radmanovic, J. Smith, A. Horford
NJN: D. Williams, A. Morrow/M. Brooks, D. James, K. Humphries, M. Okur
- Mehmet Okur is still dealing with back problems and will miss Monday. Johan Petro will get the start.
- Marvin Williams will miss Monday and Wednesday with an ankle injury. Vlad Radmanovic will likely get the start at SF.
- Josh Smith has been putting up some huge lines and he’s way underpriced on some daily sites. He’s a must start.
- Al Horford could have a big game, especially if Okur is out.
- MarShon Brooks should be a go for this one and makes a nice cheap roster filler.
- Damion James is out Monday with a foot injury.
- Expect a low scoring game with the total of 178.
Charlotte @ New York (-10.5) 202.5 Total
CHA: DJ Augustin, G. Henderson, T. Thomas, B. Diaw, (D. Diop/BJ Mullens)
NYK: I. Shumpert, L. Fields, C. Anthony, A. Stoudemire, T. Chandler
- Toney Douglas has lost his starting PG job to Iman Shumpert. Shumpert is a great cheap daily play. Douglas is suffering from a sore shoulder, but will be available Monday.
- Carmelo Anthony is dealing with several nagging injuries, so be safe and check his gametime status. His salary is pretty high on most sites, so it might be a good move to use that salary somewhere else until Melo is completely healthy.
- Amare Stoudemire has a great matchup tonight and could put up a big line against the undersized Bobcat interior.
- Corey Maggette will be out for another couple of weeks. Derrick Brown will likely get another start.
- Boris Diaw could have a limited fantasy night against Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler.
Detroit @ Chicago (13.5) 176.5 Total
DET: (R. Stuckey/B. Knight), B. Gordon, T. Prince, J. Jerebko, G. Monroe
CHI: D. Rose, R. Brewer, L. Deng, C. Boozer, J. Noah
- Rodney Stuckey is still dealing with an injury and will miss this one. Brandon Knight will get the start and is a must play daily option.
- Rip Hamilton will likely miss this game, Ronnie Brewer will get the start.
- Joakim Noah has been slumping lately, so I’d avoid him in daily cash games until he snaps out of it.
- Austin Daye is a gametime decision with a sore ankle.
- Charlie Villanueva is out with an ankle injury. Jonas Jerebko will continue to start at PF.
New Orleans @ Denver (-13) 192.5 Total
NOR: J. Jack, M. Belinelli, AF Aminu, C. Landry, E. Okafor
DEN: T. Lawson, A. Afflalo, D. Gallinari, A. Harrington, Nene
- Eric Gordon is out for a couple of weeks. Marco Belinelli will get the start at SG.
- Trevor Ariza is likely out for this one, Al-Farouq Aminu will get the start.
- Nene is a gametime decision with a foot injury. Kosta Koufos would likely get the start if Nene can’t go.
