Fantasy Basketball Free Agency Transaction Tracker, Brandon Roy Returns to the NBA

The free agency season is really heating up with a big day on Friday and probably more deals coming in the next week.  One of the more interesting deals of the day was Brandon Roy returning to the NBA with Minnesota.  While it’s nice to see Roy make it back, the guy may have let his heart cost him a lot of money.  Roy took a medical retirement a year ago which kicked in an insurance payment of $64 million to cover the rest of his contract since he couldn’t play.  Now that he’s decided he has the ability to play, I don’t think the insurers are going to be too happy to keep paying that salary.  He did get $10 million for two years, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up with another medical retirement.  Sometimes it’s best to just walk away from the game gracefully.

Philadephia 76ers amnesty Elton Brand.  The Sixers will get to dump the $18.2 million final year of Brand’s contract, which gives them some cap space to do a deal. (Source:  Ball Don’t Lie, Yahoo)
