Iverson’s Lack of Ambition and Other Fantasy Basketball News 9/9/09

Is it just me or does Memphis just seem like a horrible place for Allen Iverson? Come on, it’s Memphis. What happened to the superstar riding off into the sunset after playing a role on a championship team? Getting that ring and then calling it a career? Who wants to be remembered as spending their last seasons with Memphis? Who knows, maybe Iverson already has plans for the summer. Come on Iverson, at least have a little ambition…
PeachTreeHoops.com with some criticism of Ramon Sessions and I have to agree with some of the things they point out, mainly the fact that Sessions did most of his damage last season with Redd and Bogut out with injuries. What kind of numbers will he put up with those guys back to full strength? I think Sessions is alot of hype and not much substance and could be a total bust this year, but I guess we will see this season. He’s in the bottom third of my point guard rankings right now, especially with Jonny Flynn looking for minutes.
Pat Riley comments on Mario Chalmers: “I don’t want to waste another roster spot on a point guard that is never going to play,” he said. “That’s why we haven’t signed one. Our needs in other areas are more important. I don’t need to see what Mario Chalmers can do. I want Mario to play 35 to 37 minutes a game.”
Dime Magazine on projections for Andre Iguodala: “Word is new Philly coach Eddie Jordan is envisioning A.I.2 as a big-time scorer in his system, and he’s got a little more confidence after having a few standout playoff moments last spring. Iguodala could be poised for one of those 23 ppg, 6 rpg, 6 apg, 2.5 spg seasons people were predicting when he was constantly compared to Pippen coming out of Arizona”.
Rodney Carney may end up back in Philadelphia.
Randy Hill from FOX Sports with an article on Pace and Offensive/Defensive Efficiency that ties in well with my article from Monday. It points out some great examples of why teams who use a certain style of play do better than others.
