Monday Fantasy News 9/14/09

Week 1 of fantasy football is almost history and I am again reminded why I hate fantasy football and why fantasy basketball is the best game in the world.   Adrian Peterson 1 – My fantasy team 0.    And worse, now I have to wait 7 days before I can play again.  That sucks.  The luck factor in fantasy football is just too huge for me.  Fantasy basketball is such a beautifully statistical game with definable matchups and strategy and rarely does one player screw your whole week.  Oh well, on to week 2.

The one thing I do like about football though, cheerleaders from around the NFL to get you ready for some Monday Night Football.  Very nice 119 picture slideshow.

MSN reports that Sun Yue has signed with the Knicks.   OK, Sun Yue signed, David Lee and Nate Robinson still unsigned.  Two weeks from camp.  Genius.  And people wonder why the Knicks continue to suck year after year.  Yue was previously with the Lakers and even got a ring with them, but unfortunately just never developed his skills.  He probably won’t provide any fantasy value at all and will be lucky to even get on the court.

Sekou Smith on Josh Smith’s shooting ability and what Smith has been focusing on improving this summer.  I seem to recall Josh saying the exact same thing last preseason.  He did however improve his shooting last season with a 49.2 FG% and 50.8 eFG%, which was about average for the league.  Considering his career numbers are 45.4 FG% and 46.9 eFG%, I’m not sure if he improves or simply regresses to the mean this season.  What an inside scorer like Josh really needs to work on is that free throw shooting.  He was a horrible 58.8% last season.

BulletsForever.com with an article that should be a concern for fantasy owners of Brendan Haywood.   I hadn’t considered this view of Saunders, but I might dig a little deeper on this one.  If true, Haywood’s fantasy status may decline.

ClipsNation.com takes a look at the 10th-14th spots on the L.A. Clippers.

Another reason I can’t stand Kanye West.  What an asshole.
