Tuesday Fantasy News 9/15/2009

NBA camps are approaching and we are finally getting some worthwhile newsflow from some of the team resources.  I will be posting a lot of the roster spot competition news to help fantasy drafters get ready and I’ll also try to hit as many of the individual player value changes as possible.  I’m working on the Shooting Guard (SG) rankings and hope to have them up by Friday.  You can find the Point Guard rankings on the homepage and also the draft cheatsheet on the Point Guard Rankings and News Tab.

CelticsBlog.com with a review of Boston backup Bill Walker.  You Tube some Bill Walker if you have never had the chance to see him.  Hopefully he gets a shot this season.  He can’t be any worse than Tony Allen.

ThirdQuarterCollapse.com takes a look at the Orlando Magic defense and tries to determine if they can lead the league again this year.  An excellent analysis as to how Dwight Howard helps them dominate the ‘four factors’.

Dime Magazine with five new players that will average 2+ steals per game this season.

Dime Magazine article on Trevor Ariza and what his future might be.

ESPN reports that James Singleton will be back with Dallas this season after agreeing to a $1.03 million qualifying offer.

NBA.com reports that Blake Griffin has been cleared by doctors to begin basketball activitie with no limitations.  Looks like his shoulder is in good shape.

StraightOuttaVancouver.com with an excellent article on how Allen Iverson will fit in with the Grizzlies and how he might be most effectively used.  SOV makes some great points with the ‘usage’ (Usg.) statistic.

Video from NetsAreScorching.com using game footage to discuss how Vince Carter’s departure from NJ could affect the fantasy production of Devin Harris and Brook Lopez, as well other issues NJ must address with Carter’s absence.  Excellent post by Sebastian Pruiti.

PostingandToasting.com with a look at the Center battle in New York.  From what I’ve been reading, Eddy Curry is looking really good and my slide up the fantasy rankings this season.  Of course it’s Curry, so I’ll believe it when I see it. Don’t count out Jared Jeffries, D’Antoni had a fascination with him last season until he got hurt.

SunSentinel.com reports that James Jones is healthy and the wrist that caused him problems last season is healed.  With Beasley out, keep and eye on Jones, especially if you need 3’s.

DailyThunder.com takes a look at Nenad Krstic and Shaun Livingston.

Sacramento Bee reports that Francisco Garcia’s finger injury isn’t as serious as first reported and he can resume all basketball activities.
