Preseason is one of the most confusing times for fantasy owners and this year is no exception. Coaches are experimenting with crazy lineups and threatening to put your favorite fantasy target into an ‘off the bench’ role. What to do? Take a deep breath and just ignore most of it. While it is fun to see role players going for 25 points in preseason, they are still just bench role players playing against other bench role players from the opposition. The stars will still start and the role players will continue to be role players. It’s just preseason, so don’t do anything stupid.
It looks like Eddy Curry is out of shape and not even close to getting on the court and isn’t expected to be ready for the opener on October 28. He also has a torn calf muscle that will prevent him from conditioning. I seriously thought about taking a flier on Curry after hearing what great shape he was supposed to be in and how motivated he was supposed to be, but I think I’ll pass now. If you aren’t in shape you will never make it in D’Antoni’s system. Slide Darko Milicic up a few spots as it looks like he will get a bulk of the time at center.
Allen Iverson already has a hamstring injury. At 34, that injury isn’t going to heal very quickly so I hope Memphis sold a lot of tickets before he got hurt. He’ll have an MRI Wednesday. I’m getting the feeling that the Iverson circus attraction in Memphis just isn’t going to end well for anyone. Let someone else in your league deal with that headache all season.
GoldenStateofMind.com reports that Corey Maggette will be used as the Warriors 6th man this season. Maggette can score but his minutes are questionable which probably makes him a later round pick this year.
LA Times reports that Blake Griffin has been cleared to participate in contact drills. He is recovering from a left knee injury suffered on September 24.
OC Register with a review of Andrew Bynum’s knee injury and chronic condition. A good read for anyone thinking of drafting him. At least know what you are risking and how easily he could be gone with another injury.
Amare Stoudemire looked good in his first preseason action and seems to be healthy. ValleyoftheSuns.com reports that, “Amare’s weight is down around his regular playing weight of 250 with 7 percent body fat after he went into training camp weighing 264 with 9.5 percent body fat. Now he just wants to maintain that weight and improve his cardio.”
TheDreamshake.com with a preview of the Houston Rockets. You guys will want to add this site to your favorites as they are one of the the best blogs covering the Rockets. There is a great description of David Andersen in the writeup that you will want to read. Andersen could be a nice sleeper at Center for Houston.
Rookie DeJuan Blair put up 16 points and 19 rebounds in 22 minutes last night. I don’t care if you are playing the other teams 2nd string, that line is still impressive.
GiveMeTheRock.com with analysis of the third round of their mock draft.
Fanhouse.com with an excellent writeup on Danilo Gallinari. Good research and stats on his shooting ability. Now if he can just get steady minutes.

Nick Young got the first start at SG for Washington in the preseason opener.
