Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (9/29/10)

Training camps finally get going this week and real player news is finally starting to flow. Today’s fantasy news and notes:
Corey Maggette – He will likely miss the entire preseason as he recovers from offseason ankle surgery. He’s in a timeshare with Carlos Delfino and his only fantasy value is in the scoring category anyway.
Devin Harris – Harris had a bad relationship with Avery Johnson the first time around in Dallas and it doesn’t look like that relationship has gotten any better. Harris is already unhappy and if he’s not careful he could find himself losing a lot of minutes to Jordan Farmar.
Nazr Mohammed – As of now, he’s the starting center for the Bobcats. Mohammed doesn’t offer much scoring or blocked shots, but he can get you some rebounds and he plays good defense.
Andrew Bogut – He’s practicing without limitations, but he’s on the court for his defense right now. Fantasy owners will want to watch his offensive production carefully, as that elbow injury could alter his shooting and shotblocking ability.
Greg Oden – It’s looking like another wasted fantasy season for Oden. It doesn’t appear that he’ll be ready before at least Christmas. I’m guessing it will be longer. Leave that fantasy headache for someone else and move Camby up your draft list.
Thaddeus Young/Andre Iguodala – It’s just the first day of camp but Young is working in the starting SF spot, with Andre Iguodala at SG.
Kevin Love – He’s got a knee problem but it appears to be minor, the MRI came back clean.
Spencer Hawes – He could be a real sleeper this year at center. He was running with the first team at practice. Remember, this guy is still only 22 years old.
Michael Beasley – Beasley may start at SF this season.
Shaun Livingston/D.J. Augustin – Livingston is dealing with some minor knee problems, so Augustin could get the jump in training camp on the starting PG spot.
Tim Duncan – He might have his minutes scaled back and also miss back to backs. Tiago Splitter is going to steal some of Duncan’s time and there’s also DeJuan Blair hanging around also needing minutes.
Brandon Rush – He’ll be serving a 5 game suspension to start the season.
Rashard Lewis – He’s going to get a lot of time at small forward this season. The fantasy values of Quentin Richardson and Mikael Pietrus really take a hit on this, but the values of Brandon Bass and Ryan Anderson increase.
Antawn Jamison – Jamison will be playing some small forward this season to make room for J.J. Hickson at power forward. He should be a good play.
Josh McRoberts – Appears to have the inside track on the starting PF spot for the Pacers.
Baron Davis – Has some nagging knee and calf problems, but it’s probably just minor aches since it doesn’t appear that he did very much exercise in the offseason.
Leandro Barbosa – Could get some time at point guard this season paired with DeMar DeRozan. Look for him to have a sizable role with Toronto, maybe 20-25 minutes a night.
